Jon Jones may not be fighting in the Octagon anytime soon, but he’s still letting his presence be felt during every major UFC event via the magic of social media. On the night of UFC 263, “Bones” started the night off with compliments for new Flyweight champ Brandon Moreno’s stunning victory over Deiveson Figueiredo (watch highlights) before taking some shots at Middleweight champioon, Israel Adesanya.
No congrats were offered for Israel Adesanya after the New Zealand fighter blanked Marvin Vettori on the scorecards during their UFC 263 main event fight (watch the highlights here). Instead, Jones pointed out how far ahead he was of Adesanya when it came to title defenses — 14 defenses for Jon vs. Izzy’s five.
I better hurry up and get back in there, they’re starting to catch up pic.twitter.com/969HZl6P6i— BONY (@JonnyBones) June 13, 2021
I’m cool with that, someone has to be the greatest female. I’m wondering which guys can you see putting down that type of work? https://t.co/IDh1j7p8tc— BONY (@JonnyBones) June 13, 2021
Jones’ hypothetical UFC heavyweight run isn’t worth much speculation until negotiations with his boss Dana White get to a point where White isn’t actively implying Jones will never fight again. But that didn’t stop “Bones” from suggesting he’d aim for a nice round 20 title defense number before riding off into the sunset.
Only God knows what this heavyweight journey is going to look like. I’ve always had this thing where I wanted to win 20 championships. I’m taking zero damage and getting better every day, future Bones business will be nuts https://t.co/YSRb3MqhBd— BONY (@JonnyBones) June 13, 2021

It certainly will be, if he can get the promotion he’s under contract with to come to some sort of agreement on future fight pay. Jones and UFC have been locked in a stalemate for over a year, and while a new “advisor” has been brought in to help the two sides reach an agreement, there’s serious doubt as to whether middle ground can be found.
