“The Baddest Motherf—ker” fight was fun while it lasted, but things did not end the way they were supposed to last night (Sat., Nov. 2, 2019) at UFC 244 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside Madison Square Garden in New York City, as Jorge Masvidal’s early offense against Nate Diaz forced a doctor’s stoppage after the conclusion of the third round.
Masvidal bloodied Diaz early with a combination and kick that knocked the Stockton native to the ground. “Gamebred” followed up with heavy ground-and-pound and started to carve up Diaz’s face. Masvidal followed his efforts up in the second round when he landed a huge right and kick to the stomach of Diaz, forcing him to the canvas. Diaz powered through to land some offense on the feet, but more Masvidal was there again for even more body shots.
Diaz landed early offense in the third round but Masvidal came back with a huge right hand and body kicks that stunned Nate. Both men would eventually brawl in the center of the Octagon as Masvidal dug to the body and Diaz launched combinations down the pipe.
At the end of the round, the cageside doctor came in and had a brief discussion with Diaz regarding the cut above his right eye. Diaz gave a thumbs up and started to walk away to continue the fight, but the doctor eventually waved the fight off and awarded the TKO to Masvidal.
