UFC 244 free fight video: Derrick Lewis knocks out Alexander Volkov, and ‘balls was hot’ is born

Derrick Lewis will look to get back in the win column and snap his two-fight losing streak when he faces Blagoy Ivanov this Saturday night (Nov. 2, 2019) inside Madison Square Garden at UFC 244 in New York City.

Before then, let’s take a look back at “Black Beast’s” last win inside the eight-sided cage. That happened a year ago, as Lewis took on towering Russian big man, Alexander Volkov at the massive UFC 239 pay-per-view (PPV) event in Las Vegas, Nevada.

But it didn’t come easy, as “Drgo” stunned Derrick on multiple occasions in the opening frame, nearly putting an end to the fight with his punches in bunches. But like a true warrior, Derrick shook it off. Still, Alexander didn’t let up one bit, as he used his length and reach advantage to pick the big man off.

After two rounds, it was clear Volkov was headed toward a unanimous decision win. But with 20 seconds remaining in the fight, Lewis landed a big shot on his fellow heavyweight that dropped him like sack of potatoes. Upon smelling blood, Lewis pounced on Volkov and unleashed some vicious ground-and-pound to put an end to the fight with only 10 second remaining in the bout.

Afterward, Lewis delivered one of the more-memorable post-fight speeches, taking off his shorts and saying he did so because his “balls was hot.” Now, Lewis will look for a similar outcome in “The Big Apple”to avoid going on a three fight skid.
