Conor McGregor not done with Khabib just yet: ‘We lost the match but won the battle’

New, comments

War for territory!

For those Irish mixed martial arts (MMA) fans who are crying themselves to sleep each night, thanks to Conor McGregor’s submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in the UFC 229 pay-per-view (PPV) main event (highlights), you might want to put away those tissues and break out the party hats.

You guys won the battle!

That’s according to the “Notorious” power puncher, who returned to the Octagon last Saturday night (Oct. 6, 2018) in Las Vegas after nearly two years on the sidelines (recap). In fact, McGregor appears to be gearing up to launch his next offensive as the war goes on.

“We lost the match but won the battle,” McGregor wrote on Instagram. “The war goes on.”

The war will definitely go on for Nurmagomedov; however, the offices of the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) could serve as the next battleground. That’s because “The Eagle” will need to answer for his cage-jumping antics that sparked a post-fight melee.

Relive the madness here.

No word yet on what will happen to Nurmagomedov or if the promotion will ask him to surrender his title, but it sounds like McGregor is ready to get back into the Octagon to redeem himself, though headlining this event is likely a fantasy.

See you in 2019?
