Father: My sanctions for Khabib will be much worse than punishment from UFC

New, 60 comments

Khabib Nurmagomedov may have to wait awhile to see what kind of punishment Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) hands him for starting a post-fight brawl following his win over Conor McGregor at UFC 229 last Saturday (Oct. 6, 2018), but he will be punished just as soon as he gets home.

By his father.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion’s dad, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, spoke to Russian media members about the melee that ensued after “The Eagle” jumped out of the cage to get at Dillon Danis, along with two of Khaibb’s teammates who jumped into the cage to attack “Notorious.”

For Abdulmanap — who is the leader of the team — engaging in such antics simply won’t do.

“I will be very hard on this,” he told Ren TV (via Perthnow). “I warned him. For me, discipline comes first. You do whatever you want in the Octagon, [but] outside — this is the border of civilians, where there are children, women, strangers.”

As leader of Khabib’s team, Adbulmanap takes full responsibility for what transpired Saturday night inside T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“Still, I am responsible for this. This is my team. Despite the fact that I was not allowed to go to America, I do not relieve myself of responsibility.”

During the post-fight press conference (video replay here), Nurmagomedov himself admitted he wasn’t going to be receiving a warm homecoming from his father. “I know my father is going to smash me when I go home,” said Khabib.

Prior to the fight, McGregor added fuel to the fire by insulting Khabib’s father, which obviously enraged “The Eagle” a bit more. But despite Nurmagomedov justifying his actions for staying loyal to his family, religion and team, Andulmanap will not take that into consideration, apparently, when it’s time to dish out his own punishment.
