Conor McGregor refuses to press charges, Khabib teammates released by police following UFC 229 melee

“The guys who jumped in will never fight here, they’ll never fight here.” — UFC President Dana White

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion, Conor McGregor, was attacked by teammates of Khabib Nurmagomedov in the chaos that followed “The Eagle’s” submission win over “Notorious” last Saturday night (Oct. 6, 2018) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

While the goons who went after the trash-talking Irishman were promptly arrested by “Sin City” police, they were released shortly thereafter as McGregor refused to press charges. That’s according to promotion president Dana White, who was “disgusted” by the incident.

“The way that it works is, Conor was one of the guys who was attacked and things like that,” White said at the post-fight press conference (watch it here). “Conor refused to press charges. The guys that they did have, they were released.”

McGregor knows a thing or two about ambushing fighters. “Notorious” led a gang of Irish toughies in last April’s bus attack in Brooklyn, one that unfortunately for “Mystic Mac,” did lead to charges being filed.

Expect more of the same for Nurmagomedov. Though he’s unlikely to face any criminal charges, Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) will no doubt be looking to ground “The Eagle” with some sort of disciplinary action.
