Khabib Nurmagomedov remained undefeated last night (Sat., Oct. 6, 2018) at UFC 229 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, after he finished Conor McGregor via fourth-round neck crank to defend his 155-pound title.
The first round was all pressure by Khabib, but McGregor fought well off his back. In the second round, Khabib blasted McGregor with a right hand that stunned the Irishman. McGregor recovered briefly before the champion took him down and absolutely smashed him. Khabib landed powerful left hands to the body and head as McGregor covered up and survived.
The third round saw McGregor come back with some good punches on the feet, as well as a few takedown defenses. Khabib looked a little tired and seemed happy to welcome a war on the feet. Khabib regained control in the fourth round by taking McGregor down and working half guard. From there, the undefeated Russian was able to score solid punches in bunches before moving into back control and wrapping his hands around McGregor’s chin. A few seconds later, the crank was applied and “Notorious” was forced to tap.

With this performance, Khabib earns the biggest victory of his MMA career amidst a sour scene after the fight. He dominated McGregor at almost every turn and truly showed his elite ability inside of the cage. Whether or not the Russian champion is suspended for his post-fight actions in the crowd, he remains one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.
