Tony Ferguson and Anthony Pettis put together one of the best fights of the year last night (Sat., Oct. 6, 2018) at UFC 229 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, only to see a corner stoppage call an end to the action after the second round.
Ferguson, who was returning from knee surgery just five months ago, looked a little off in the early going. But in the second round, “El Cucuy” let loose and Pettis responded. They traded kicks, punches, elbows, and spinning techniques of all shapes and sizes. “Showtime” put Ferguson in serious trouble, but the former interim champ pulled through and sliced up Pettis’ face at will. In between the second and third rounds, a broken hand for Pettis ultimately ended the fight, granting Ferguson the second-round TKO.

With this performance, Ferguson extends his current win streak to 11-straight in the crowded lightweight division and proves he deserves a true title fight his next time out. Few can withstand the pressure of “El Cucuy” and he proved that tonight against a very tough Pettis.
