While Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov are gearing up for a massive main event title fight later tonight (Sat., Oct. 6, 2018) at UFC 229 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, their fans have already battled it out.
During yesterday’s UFC 229 ceremonial weigh ins in Las Vegas (video replay here), fans of McGregor and Khabib threw down in the crowd. While it hasn’t been confirmed that alcohol was involved, we can probably assume some of the participants were intoxicated. Maybe they got their hands on some Proper No. 12.
The brawl, which includes one girl getting knocked to the ground, can be seen above in its entirety.
After the altercation, two of the people involved in the fight spoke with Yahoo Sports (shown below). While UFC 229 has been built up as a battle between Ireland and Russia, the weigh-ins brawl didn’t have much to do with pride (so these two say).
UFC president Dana White, who caught wind of the brawl, expressed his surprise.
“Normally when our fans show up, everybody treats each other with respect,” White told Yahoo Sports. “Things like that have never happened.”
Remember, this is from yesterday’s weigh ins. If this is a sign of things to come we can only imagine the type of verbal and physical altercations that will break out later tonight when McGregor faces off with Khabib live on PPV. Security better be on high alert.
