The most anticipated fight in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) history will unfold later this evening (Sat., Oct. 6, 2018) at UFC 229 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, as undefeated lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov welcomes combat superstar Conor McGregor back to the cage.
Already trending to produce somewhere close to 3 million PPV buys, McGregor vs. Khabib is easily the biggest combat fight of 2019. The return of McGregor paired with Khabib’s undefeated record and the bad blood between the two lightweights has catapulted their main event clash into a global spectacle.
But when will the two mixed martial arts (MMA) titans actually take center stage later tonight at UFC 229?
With four fights sparking off the PPV main card at 10:00 p.m. ET, McGregor vs. Khabib is likely to begin sometime right after midnight (think 12:15 a.m. ET). Considering there are no other title fights, the co-main event between former UFC champions Tony Ferguson and Anthony Pettis could end in a finish, heavyweights Derrick Lewis and Alexander Volkov could drop each other early and often, and light heavyweights Ovince Saint Preux and Dominick Reyes have finished each of their past three contests, UFC 229’s main card could move along pretty quickly.
If things run late Mania will be sure to provide an updated start time for the biggest fight in UFC history.
MMAmania.com will deliver LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the entire UFC 229 fight card on fight night (click here), starting with the Fight Pass “Prelims” matches online, which are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. ET, then the remaining undercard balance on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET, before the PPV main card start time at 10 p.m. ET.
