As I’m sure most of you are aware by now, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight champion, Max Holloway, has been ruled medically unfit to compete at this Saturday night’s (July 7, 2018) UFC 226 pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled for T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Our full report here.
There was an attempt to keep “T-City” on this weekend’s fight card; however, Ortega knows just how risky it can be to accept a short-notice contest against a hungry contender. In fact, that’s exactly how the hardest-hitting featherweight got his “Blessed” title shot to begin with.
“It is what it is,” the even-keeled Ortega wrote on social media. “We’ll run this shit later.”
A report from Los Angeles Times has the Holloway-Ortega title fight being rescheduled for UFC 227 next month in “The City of Angels;” however, the promotion has yet to make an announcement on Saturday night’s fight card or confirm any of the pending changes.
That said, I have to imagine any further delays would result in yet another interim title.
