It didn’t take long for Brazilian middleweight prospect Markus Perez to strike gold earlier tonight (Sat., May 12, 2018) at UFC 224 from inside Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, when he finished American grappler James Bochnovic via first-round submission (rear-naked choke).
While Bochnovic was the one to come out firing in the first few moments of the fight, Perez was able to quickly gain control with a slamming takedown. From there, the talented 185-pound fighter worked his way to Bochnovic’s back, fixed his grip a few times, and finally locked in a tight rear-naked choke, forcing Bochnovic to tap.

With this performance, Perez gets back into the win column after losing to Eryk Anders via decision back in December. The 27-year-old is a very talented prospect in the UFC’s middleweight division and should draw a more seasoned name his next time out.
