The FOX Sports 1 preliminary card did not start off on the right foot earlier tonight (Sat., Mar. 3, 2018) at UFC 222 from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, as middleweight Hector Lombard was disqualified for knocking C.B. Dollaway out after the bell sounded for the end of the very first round.
Both fighters exchanged early and landed good shots. Lombard stayed in the middle of the Octagon and was looking for a one-shot kill the entire time. As the first round was coming to an end, Lombard launched a devastating combination. Unfortunately, the bell had already sounded before the Cuban veteran landed two huge punches that put Dollaway out. After Dollaway struggled to understand what happened and was stumbling around the Octagon, the fight was called and Lombard was disqualified for illegal punches.

This is not the way either fighter wanted to end their night. Dollaway does walk away with the win, but it’s not a performance he could really build off of in the 185-pound division. As for Lombard, who clearly landed his best shots when the clocked already elapsed, he has yet to capture a victory since a decision win over Jake Shields in 2014.
