Disgruntled Chris Weidman just shut down the UFC Perth main event in one simple tweet

In case you thought top-five middleweight Kelvin Gastelum was the only contender “bothered” by the Luke Rockhold vs. Yoel Romero interim championship headliner, which tops the UFC 221 pay-per-view (PPV) event this weekend in Perth, Australia, I present to you former 185-pound kingpin Chris Weidman.

Currently sidelined with a bum thumb, the “All American” took exception to the recent comments from Rockhold (read ‘em), suggesting that he, along with Romero and reigning champion Robert Whittaker, have separated themselves from the pack.

Sounds like someone just bought a timeshare in La-La Land, according to Weidman.

In more worthless news, I haven’t used “La-La Land” on this site in over a decade.

Naturally, we can blame this entire mess on former division titleholder Michael Bisping, who sent the weight class into a chaotic state by losing his big-money fight against welterweight import Georges St-Pierre, only to follow it up with a knockout defeat to the aforementioned Gastelum.

Who had a hand in his own setback.

Working against Weidman is the fact that he was finished by both Rockhold and Romero, so despite his win over Gastelum (MMA math nerds are loving this division), the “All American” has lots of work to do before he’s back in the title picture.

Maybe he can settle this grudge?
