Rising UFC light heavyweight prospect Tyson Pedro took full advantage of his pay-per-view (PPV) main card bid last night (Sat., Feb. 10, 2018) at UFC 221 from inside Perth Arena in Perth, Australia, when he pulled off a sick first-round kimura finish over Russian finisher Saparbek Safarov.
It didn’t take long before the two light heavyweights locked horns and got personal. During an exchange along the cage, Pedro was able to land a kimura sweep from a takedown attempt. Safarov was turned over and after Pedro moved his leg into optimal position the Russian had no option but to tap.

With this performance, Pedro gets back into the 205-pound win column after dropping a tough decision loss to Ilir Latifi at UFC 215. This was the young Australian’s third UFC finish in as many victories. If Pedro continues to fight smart and is able to lean on his athleticism to put his opponents in danger, he’ll be a contender to watch heading into 2019.
