Check out all the information you need regarding UFC Fight Night 42: “Henderson vs. Khabilov,” which takes place TONIGHT (Sat., June 7, 2014) from Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The main attractions feature two exciting lightweight bouts, as Benson Henderson battles Rustam Khabilov in the main event, while Diego Sanchez goes to war against Ross Pearson in the co-main event. The main card and the “Prelims” can be seen on FOX Sports 1 (FS1), including the first bout of the evening taking place on UFC’s digital network, “Fight Pass.”

It's time for another edition of Buzzfeed, breaking down UFC Fight Night 42: "Henderson vs. Khabilov," which takes place TONIGHT (Sat., June 7, 2014) from Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Here is everything you need to know about the mixed martial arts (MMA) event that takes place later this evening.

Without further ado, let's get to it.

Who: Benson Henderson vs. Rustam Khabilov
What: UFC Fight Night 42
When: June 7, 2014
Where: Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico
Why It Matters: There are four lightweight fights on the main card, signaling a potential change in the UFC ranking system on Monday morning.

This event isn't going to provide us with anything historical, apart from a couple of noteworthy bouts.

What's Hot: Apart from Albuquerque in general, the two feature lightweight contests should be a lot of fun, while the rest of the main card is a satisfactory offering from our favorite promotion.

Also, this card is giving the fighters who compete in the lower weight classes a chance to shine, since the heaviest weight class on the entire FOX Sports 1 (FS1) broadcast is the 170-pound division (including the televised "Prelims").

What's Not: Technically, this is the third UFC card in seven days, and although nobody is tying you up like Jigsaw's accomplices in Saw and forcing you to watch, it raises concerns about how much volume we truly need if the fights aren't exactly marquee match ups.

We can't forget about our love for the sport, but this is beginning to look more and more like an actual sports league, which is hard to follow when you can't name most of the athletes on one team.

New Blood: There are two fresh faces you need to familiarize yourself with tonight.

Jake Lindsey will be making his Octagon debut, after going 9-0 on the regional scene, which include two appearances in Titan FC. All of the lightweight's victories have come by way of stoppage except for two unanimous decisions on his record, and he will be opening up the FS1 televised "Prelims."

Roger Narvaez is also undefeated, making his promotional debut in the very first fight of the night, broadcast on UFC Fight Pass. The light heavyweight has competed in Legacy FC once, and his record stands at 6-0, with five stoppage victories.

Original Card vs. Actual Card: There weren't too many cancellations for this fight card, except for two contests on the "Prelims" that needed a bit of reshuffling with both individuals just mentioned in the "New Blood" portion.

Yosdenis Cedeno had to pull out of his bout against Jon Tuck due to injury, with Lindsey taking his place.

The ultimate coffee grinder Patrick Cummins was supposed to take on Francimar Barroso in the first fight of the night, but Narvaez has replaced the Brazilian after he suffered an injury, as well.

How The "Prelims" Look: They aren't mesmerizing, and the five fights taking shape on the undercard begs us to ask the question if something akin to the Strikeforce: "Challengers" series would work for UFC.

The "Prelims" will be headlined by bantamweight prospect Sergio Pettis, who looks for his second UFC win against Yaotzin Meza. The lightweight champion's little brother is currently 1-1 in the Octagon.

Bobby Voelker dukes it out against Lance Benoist in the welterweight division, while Scott Jorgensen battles Danny Martinez in a flyweight battle. Rounding up the undercard is Tuck vs. Lindsey and Cummins vs. Narvaez.

Who Needs A Win Badly: In terms of keeping one's job, there are a handful of competitors needing to leave New Mexico with a win under their belts.

Longtime veteran of the sport Yves Edwards has only won twice in his past seven contests, even though he may be closer to retirement than a pink slip.

Jorgensen has only won once in his past six bouts, which means a fourth loss in a row would definitely send him packing.

Apart from his three consecutive losses being entertaining fights, Voelker needs to win on Saturday night to keep his UFC run going. His opponent Benoist can't risk losing three straight, either.

Meza needs to beat Pettis, since he's 2-3 in his last five bouts, with job safety an uncertainty in this day and age.

You've also got Cummins, who needs to win his second fight in the Octagon to not only prove the haters wrong, but to save his job, too.

Finally, Diego Sanchez needs to beat Ross Pearson if he doesn't want to be on the first three-fight losing streak of his career. UFC wouldn't fire "The Nightmare," yet concerns would be raised about his health and fighting future.

Interest Level: 7/10

The event should be an entertaining one, even if it's hard to follow what's happening on a weekly basis. The main card is solid, with several match ups sure to materialize as entertaining scraps. You've got a former champion in the main event, a fan favorite returning home in the co-main event, and a number of possible contenders in their respective division slugging it out for recognition.

Should be a decent night of fights.

With many of the top UFC lightweights booked, former champion Ben Hendeson signed on to face an under-the-radar but dangerous opponent in Rustam Khabilov at tonight's (June 7, 2014) UFC Fight Night 42 from Albuquerque, New Mexico. How can each fighter win the pivotal main event? Read our fight preview to find out!

Tonight (June 7, 2014,) Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweights Ben Henderson and Rustam Khabilov will go to battle in the main event of UFC Fight Night 42, airing live at 10 p.m. EST on FOX Sports 1 from Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Recently reclaiming his No. 1 ranking, former champion Henderson was last seen winning a lackluster decision over Josh Thomson at UFC on FOX 10 in January. After losing his title to Anthony Pettis at UFC 164 in August 2013, "Smooth" is looking to crawl back into title contention. But with two losses to "Showtime," it's going to be a long road.

Henderson's journey continues against No. 11-ranked Khabilov, who has been out of action since a UFC Fight Night 31 decision win over tough veteran Jorge Masvidal. He's won six straight mixed martial arts (MMA) bouts. "Tiger" was supposed to face Rafael dos Anjos at February's UFC 170, but an injury actually got him placed in a much bigger bout.

The Dagestan Sambo expert has his hands full in a major way, but he also has the chance to shock the world on a grand stage. Let's take a look at the keys to victory for Henderson vs. Khabilov:

Benson Henderson

Record: 20-3 overall, 8-1 UFC

Key Wins: Frankie Edgar (UFC 144, UFC 150), Nate Diaz (UFC on FOX 5), Gilbert Melendez (UFC on FOX 7), Josh Thomson (UFC on FOX 10)

Key Losses: Anthony Pettis (UFC 164, WEC 53)

Keys to Victory: On paper, Henderson is one of the most well rounded martial artists on the planet. He has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, NAIA All-American level wrestling, and a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt under noted coach John Crouch.

However, he's yet to score a single finish in UFC, a dynamic that has gained him the moniker of being a boring fighter. The pressure is on Henderson not only to win, but also win impressively.

To do so, he'll have to push the pace a bit more with his striking. He has the skills to mix up his game with effective combinations, and those will in turn lead to opportunities to take the fight to the ground. With his unorthodox Sambo background, it's going to be far from easy to finish Khabilov. The Russian prospect has only lost one fight, and that was a split decision.

But that can't matter to Henderson. He has to fight like he knows his lofty ranking is on the line. He no longer has the belt, so the motivation to fight safe and keep it should not be affecting him.

He'll never be considered for another title bout if he doesn't score an emphatic win sometime soon. In today's win-now UFC landscape, here's no better time than tonight.

Rustam Khabilov

Record: 17-1 overall, 3-0 UFC

Key Wins: Jorge Masvidal (UFC Fight Night 31), Vinc Pichel (TUF 16 Finale)

Key Losses: None

Keys to Victory: "Tiger" has looked beyond impressive in his three UFC bouts, slamming Pichel and Yancy Medeiros and outscoring Masvidal. He's earned a very steep step up in competition against Henderson, so this bout will be a very good gauge of just how far he can progress in UFC.

To score the massive upset in Albuquerque, Khabilov has to dictate the pace. He can't let Henderson settle into his striking rhythm, so throwing some surprising kicks will help him disrupt "Smooth."

His vaunted suplexes are one of his best wepons, but it's hard to imagine him ragdolling a fighter of Henderson's caliber. If he can, he should be able to find an advantageous position on the ground, which could lead to an opening for a submission.

Henderson has tapped out twice in three total losses, and Khabilov has five of his own. Still, at this point, you're going to have to get Henderson in a position where he is facing imminent injury to see him tap out.

"Smooth" is hell-bent on getting back to a title fight, and that makes this undoubtedly the hardest bout of Khabilov's career.

Bottom Line from Albuquerque: The bottom line for this fight is that it is kind of a lose-lose proposition for Henderson. A win over Khabilov won't do much for his title plight, but a loss will certainly have him out of the discussion for the foreseeable future.

Khabilov, on the other hand, can cement himself as a legitimate title contender by defeating "Smooth." But with this fight being close to Henderson's home training camp in Arizona, the former champion is going to be beyond motivated to make a statement.

He's a very calm and collected challenger, so the emotions should help him rather than hinder him in this instance. Khabilov maintains a similar demeanor, but he's never fought on a stage like this.

If Henderson can win and continue doing so, it will grow increasingly more difficult to deny him another shot at gold. Expect Henderson to pull out all the stops as he attempts to get back to the peak he once enjoyed.

Benson Henderson has received a ton of flack for a fighter who's only lost once in UFC. Will he score his first Octagon finish against Rustam Khabilov tonight?

Diego Sanchez is dangerously close to irrelevancy after losing three of his past four fights, including two in a row. Tonight (Sat., June 7, 2014), he'll try to bite back against his demons once more when he battles Ross Pearson in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 42 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, live on FOX Sports 1.

Shortly after Diego Sanchez and Ross Pearson made weight (full results here) for their co-main event Lightweight match later tonight (Sat., June 7, 2014) at UFC Fight Night 42, which takes place at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, N.M., The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) winners (from different seasons) took some time to preview their fan-friendly scrap.

Here's what they had to say ...

Sanchez:

"I believe Ross is a warrior, a fighter based on all the fight tape I've seen. He comes forward, fights and that's the type of fight I like to be in - it makes for classic fights, it makes for good fights for the fans, the organization and company. That's what we're here to do, fight for the fans. I look at his style and it makes my style that much better."

Pearson:

"Diego is a future hall of famer, man. It's an honor to fight and compete against him. We want to take our careers to the next level, step out there and prove we're one of the best Lightweights in the world. I've come here for a fight and I know for a fact I'm getting a fight with Diego."

Following a second loss to Anthony Pettis and a controversial decision win over Josh Thomson, Ben Henderson has numerous questions to answer heading into his main event bout tonight (June 7, 2014) at UFC Fight Night 42. "Smooth" now stands in a weird position in the lightweight division, with everything to lose and not much to gain when he collides with Rustam Khabilov later this evening.

After making the switch from the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) to Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Ben Henderson seemed like he could have been the dominant champion the Lightweight division hadn't had in years.

Following three utterly dominant wins over Mark Bocek, Jim Miller and Clay Guida, Henderson earned the No. 1 contender spot after losing what would have been a guaranteed contender UFC title shot when Anthony Pettis defeated him at WEC 53.

When the time came to take on Frankie Edgar for UFC's 155-pound crown, Henderson was far less impressive than he was in previous outings. Though Henderson left that night as the division's new champion, plenty of fans saw the decision going the other way, and as such, an immediate rematch was booked. However, their rematch was even more controversial, with Henderson taking a split decision victory that many fans were unsatisfied with.

Despite how close his two fights with Edgar were, Henderson moved on to new challengers, embarrassing Nate Diaz in a five round drubbing before taking on Gilbert Melendez, who he again struggled with en route to a controversial decision win. At this point, Henderson was just about anything other than the dominant champion some anticipated.

And with his less-than-decisive victories in some of his title defenses, it was difficult to call him the far-and-away best in class.

Enter UFC 164, where Henderson took on the last fighter to defeat him, Anthony Pettis. Their back-and-forth classic in their first match put a lot of hype around this fight, and with noted improvements in each fighter, there was plenty of speculation as to who would leave as the champ.

In a very unexpected twist, the fight was anything but competitive.

Pettis was so much sharper with his strikes, hurting Henderson with body kicks that he landed effortlessly. Henderson brought the fight to the ground, but it would prove to be his undoing, as Pettis locked up an armbar and finished the fight in a way that just about nobody expected given Henderson's reputation as a submission escape artist.

That fight brought Henderson back to the drawing board -- and without a title belt around his waist -- it would be a difficult road back to the top, especially considering the man with the belt had now beaten him twice. Following an injury to the newly-crowned champion, Henderson filled in to fight Josh Thomson at UFC on FOX 10.

Thomson went after Henderson straight away, showing early on that he was the definitively better wrestler. For five rounds, they fought back and forth, with many thinking Thomson would leave as the winner. However, in typical fashion, "Smooth" left the cage that night with his hand raised after profiting from yet another controversial decision.

That leads us to tonight (Sat., June 7, 2014) with UFC Fight Night 42, which takes place at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Rustam Khabilov -- one of many talented fighters coming from the growing Dagestani talent pool -- is a product of Greg Jackson's esteemed Albuquerque-based camp. And in that sense, he will also be a hometown fighter at this event. His excellent clinch grappling was highlighted in his win over Vinc Pichel, where he utilized some crowd-pleasing suplex throws to set up a technical knockout win.

Wins over Yancy Medeiros and Jorge Masvidal have further legitimized Khabilov as an up-and-comer in the division -- he is as dangerous as anyone at 155 pounds.

Henderson will definitely be tested in this fight. Khabilov is a respectably well-rounded opponent, but his main strength lies in his wrestling, which is what Henderson struggled with in his last fight against Thomson. To add, Henderson has shown that he lacks when it comes to range striking, with a pitiful jab among other flaws making him all too hittable in this department.

However, Henderson's huge advantage in this fight is his experience in big fights. He is also very used to going all five rounds if need be, which is something Khabilov has yet to do.

This fight serves as one where Henderson has everything to lose but very little to gain. He's facing an opponent who isn't well established in the division, but still appears to be a major threat in some respects. Henderson will be tested here, and despite Khabilov coming in as an underdog, it is not wise for anyone to look past him.

In this fight, "Smooth" is going to have to show the form that he displayed in 2011 -- a ferocious, attack-minded pressure fighter with a chip on his shoulder. Henderson has a lot at stake in this fight, and winning is very important, even if it won't do all that much to advance him in the division.

Ben Henderson thinks he's headed back to lightweight title contention but a Russian badass named Rustam Khabilov stands in his way. The two will tussle in the main event of tonight's (Sat., June 7, 2014) UFC Fight Night 42 show on Fox Sports 1 from Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Henderson:

"Rustam is a tough kid but he's a tough kid who wants to take my place in line. That's not going to happen. This is a big opportunity fore me just because it's my chance to show that when I'm at my best, I'm the best in the division. The plan is just to go in there and beat him up, plain and simple. I've got to win, period. I'm beating Rustam tonight because it's time to get my belt back and no one is going to stand in my way."

Khabilov:

"I am very happy to be the main event in Albuquerque, because this is where I have been training so that I am adjusted to the climate, everything, for the night of the fight. Albuquerque is my second home. I have a lot of friends coming tonight, and I am honored to fight and win in front of them. Because I have the best coaches, and the best sparring partners, I have everything and I will win."

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will serve up UFC Fight Night 42: "Henderson vs. Khabilov" later this evening (Sat., June 7, 2014) from Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Before the action begins, take a look at the special fighters and fights from the FOX Sports 1-televised event who have the potential to haul in one or more of UFC's new performance-based bonuses.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will invade Tingle Coliseum in Albuquerque, N.M, tonight (June 7, 2014) with UFC Fight Night 42, which features a Lightweight tilt between former division champion Ben Henderson against Rustam Khabilov.

The co-main event pits two The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) stars against eachother when Diego Sanchez fights Ross Pearson in yet another 155-pound scrap.

Overall, this FOX Sports 1-televised card is very solid ... even in the "Prelims" portion. With a lot of solid match ups, let's take a look at some of the fighters most likely to earn performance bonuses for their efforts at this event:

Diego Sanchez and Ross Pearson: Sanchez's game is certainly not one that can challenge the top fighters in the division, but Pearson is pretty much right at his level. Sanchez claims he's resurrecting his old nickname "The Nightmare" for this fight, and fighting in his backyard, it may very well be fitting. Pearson is the kind of guy who can hold his own in a firefight, which is what fans should expect to see in the main event. Pearson will have to stuff Sanchez's takedowns to keep this a standing affair, but I think he has the ability to do so and as such, I think this will be a very exciting slugfest.

John Dodson (Fighting John Moraga): Although both of these guys are top five Flyweight contenders, Dodson is the much better fighter. Moraga is slow relative to the rest of the division, whereas Dodson is one of the quickest, most explosive fighters at 125 pounds. Dodson also boasts ridiculous power for his size, and I think he's going to turn Moraga's lights out very quickly. To add, Dodson already beat Moraga back in 2010, which should be a confidence boost for this fight.

Rafael dos Anjos (Fighting Jason High): After wins over Anthony Lapsley and James Head, High is inexplicably being thrown to the wolves here. Dos Anjos is a legit Top 5-ranked fighter, whereas High is a talented, but not quite upper level fighter. Dos Anjos definitely wants to be getting back into the win column, and I think he'll put on a very good performance against High in this fight.

Bryan Caraway (Fighting Erik Perez): I don't think there's really any reason to be high on Perez as a prospect. He really hasn't shown any terrific skills in his fights and although he is young, he hasn't beaten anybody worth anything. Caraway, however, is just the opposite, being pretty well underrated by most fight fans despite having some impressive performances in his last few bouts. Dominant wins over Johnny Bedford and Mitch Gagnon are more impressive than anything Perez has done, and I think Caraway will be the definitively better grappler. I see Caraway walloping Perez and possibly finishing him with a submission.

Lance Benoist (Fighting Bobby Voelker): Benoist's style is intriguing -- proficient in all areas, but a little too complacent at times. Voelker isn't the type of fighter who I think will smother Benoist with wrestling, and his striking is very, very stiff and robotic. Benoist is solid on the feet and I think he'll take this fight with a composed gameplan that sees Voelker whiff a lot throughout the fight. Voelker is tough, but I think he's going to get beaten up by a much slicker striker here.

Patrick Cummins (Fighting Roger Narvaez): When two can crushers collide, you've got to go with the one coming in with more wrestling experience and a better camp. Cummins was embarrassed in his last outing against Daniel Cormier, but there's plenty to build on with him ... and Narvaez is simply not very good.

Overall, this card serves up plenty of exciting fights, some of which have fighters who look set for very impressive performances. This is the type of card that is good enough to watch from beginning to end, and it's good to see that after last week's monotonous double-event day that felt all too long to watch.
