UFC 174 figures are not yet in for "Johnson vs. Bagautinov," but are expected to be at or below this number.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) did some Bellator-esque numbers for its UFC 173 pay-per-view (PPV) event, which took place over Memorial Day Weekend (Sat., May 24, 2014) and featured a monster upset in the main event, as TJ Dillashaw toppled Renan Barao to claim the 135-pound throne.

The event scared up 200-250,000 PPV buys, according to Dave Meltzer.

With the plethora of free UFC televised events, the consistently large pay-per-view numbers from the mid-2006 to 2010 period are only going to be hit when the public sees an event as major. Now more than ever, the biggest shows have remained strong, but shows without a strong main event or deep card, are seeing people pick and choose. The 200,000 to 230,000 range is where the featherweight and bantamweight title matches, as well as some lightweight title matches, have been doing over the last two years when they are the singular headlining fight.

Is normal.

That's probably not a shock to most mixed martial arts (MMA) fans, as the "Barao vs. Dillashaw" event was light on star power, save for the co-main event that featured Dan Henderson's "Sin City" shellacking at the hands of ex-heavyweight Daniel Cormier.

UFC 175, which is just around the corner, is expected to double those numbers as "Weidman vs. Machida" (full fight card here) features two championship title fights over Fourth of July Weekend.

You buying?

UFC 173: "Barao vs. Dillashaw" had several moments that are best viewed in super-slow motion. Check them out in the "Fight Motion" video -- also known as the "Phantom Cam" -- above.

Superman punches, superhuman body slams and a shocking upset for the ages -- all that and more was showcased at UFC 173: "Barao vs. Dillashaw," which took place over Memorial Day Weekend (May 24, 2014) inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Indeed, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently took "Sin City" by storm, much like its newly-crowned Bantamweight champion, T.J. Dillashaw, did to top-ranked pound-for-pound talent, Renan Barao, before finishing him in the fifth and final round of their jaw-dropping main event (watch full video highlights here).

"The Viper" turned in "the greatest performance ever," so dominant that "The Baron" might not even get an immediate rematch.

Elsewhere on the pay-per-view (PPV) card, Daniel Cormier completely handled Dan Henderson in a mesmerizing display of raw power en route to a lopsided submission win (watch full video highlights here), while Robbie Lawler inched one step closer to another Welterweight title shot after plopping several "Ruthless" stamps on an overmatched Jake Ellenberger (watch full submission highlights here).

More Jamie Varner broken leg footage? No thanks.

Thanks to a recent shocking Bantamweight development, the SB Nation combat sports brain trust was compelled to tally votes and come up with the 10 best 135-pound fighters in mixed martial arts (MMA) today. Have a look below!

So who's most likely the least popular guy in the room right now? This guy (me)!

It seems I have some 'splainin to do after putting Renan Barao ahead of T.J. Dillashaw as the best 135-pound fighter on the planet (still) even though "The Viper" mopped the floor with "The Baron" at UFC 173, which took place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 24, 2014.

Look, it was an emphatic beat down, complete with a decisive fifth round finish (watch highlights here). I get it -- Dillashaw was far and away the better fighter on Memorial Day weekend. But, could Barao just have had a bad night, while Dillashaw had the fight of his life?

Of course.

In addition, Barao just wasn't the same after eating that monster right hand in the second stanza. In fact, it probably could have put a mule to sleep, but somehow, Barao managed to survive and continue on most likely dazed and terribly confused.

Lastly, prior to the shocking upset -- all-time top five in UFC championship history -- Barao was considered among the top two best pound-for-pound fighters in the sport, while Dillashaw wasn't even the No. 1 option to headline UFC 173 opposite the Brazilian (it was Raphael Assuncao).

To be honest, I'm not even sure Dillashaw is the best Bantamweight fighter at Team Alpha Male at the moment, but I could be really, really wrong. I'm confident, however, that over time Dillashaw -- and all you -- will prove the reality either way as the division moves forward with new leadership.

Nevertheless, the SB Nation panel -- compiled by MMA Mania, MMA Fighting and Bloody Elbow -- recently sifted through the Top 10 Bantamweight fighters for UFC and beyond.

Here is what happened:

1. T.J. Dillashaw
2. Renan Barao
3. Urijah Faber
4. Raphael Assuncao
5. Michael MacDonald
6. Takeya Mizugaki
7. Johnny Eduardo
8. Eduardo Dantes
9. Bibiano Fernandes
10. Iuri Alcantara

To see how these compare to the "official" UFC rankings click here.

Anyone else think Barao deserves to be in the rankings driver's seat because of his body of impressive work or has Dillashaw proven he is indeed the real deal -- and new Bantamweight king -- with what Joe Rogan described as, "the greatest performance he has ever seen."

Now that the dust has settled and the smoke has cleared, it's time to find out who's worse for the wear following the carnage at UFC 173 this past weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) today issued its list of injuries and medical suspensions for the mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters who participated in UFC 173, which took place last Saturday night (May 24, 2014) inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

And there are a few hefty sentences.

Of course, Jamie Varner was flagged after he attempted to fight James Krause with two fractured bones and torn ligaments in his left foot, an injury that happened early in the first round of their Lightweight match, but didn't stop "C-4" from somehow finishing the frame (watch video highlights here).

All heart!

Jake Ellenberger is also worse for wear thanks to Robbie Lawler, who beat up "Juggernaut" for two rounds before apparently breaking his face with a final round finish (watch video highlights here).

Both Varner and Ellenberger could be out of action for as long as six months, but the notable duo are not alone.

Here is the full list of UFC 173 medical suspensions:

T.J. Dillashaw -- Suspended until June 24, 2014, and no contact until June 15, 2014, because of a right eyebrow laceration.

Renan Barao -- Suspended until July 9, 2014, and no contact until June 24, 2014.

Dan Henderson -- Suspended until July 9, 2014, and no contact until June 24, 2014, because of nose, eyebrow and ear lacerations.

Jake Ellenberger -- Suspended until Nov. 21, 2014, because of a left inferior wall blowout fracture unless an ophthalmologist clears him to return sooner. Minimum suspension until July 9, 2014, and no contact until June 24, 2014.

Francisco Rivera -- Suspended until Nov. 21, 2014, because of possible right hand fracture unless an orthopedist clears him to return sooner.

Takeya Mizugaki -- Suspended until June 24, 2014, and no contact until June 15, 2014, because of cuts over both eyes.

Jamie Varner -- Suspended until Nov. 21, 2014, because of a left leg fracture unless an orthopedist clears him to return sooner.

Michael Chiesa -- Suspended until Nov. 21, 2014, because of a possible left elbow injury unless an orthopedist clears him to return sooner.

Francisco Trinaldo -- Suspended until June 24, 2014, and no contact until June 15, 2014, because of a left cheek laceration.

Katsunori Kikuno -- Suspended until July 9, 2014, and no contact until June 24, 2014, because of technical knockout and nose laceration.

Al Iaquinta -- Suspended until Nov. 21, 2014, because of a right knee injury that requires and MRI unless an orthopedist clears him to return sooner. Minimum suspension until June 24, 2014, and no contact until June 15, 2014.

Mitch Clarke -- Suspended until Nov. 21, 2014, because of a possible right elbow injury unless an orthopedist clears him to return sooner.

Anthony Njokuani -- Suspended until June 24, 2014, and no contact until June 15, 2014, because of a possible corneal abrasion to left eye.

Vinc Pichel -- Suspended until Nov. 21, 2014, because of a possible left eye blowout fracture unless an ophthalmologist clears him to return sooner.

Sam Sicilia -- Suspended until Nov. 21, 2014, because of a possible right hand injury unless an orthopedist clears him to return sooner.

Jingliang Li -- Suspended until June 24, 2014, and no contact until June 15, 2014, because of a left eye laceration.

David Michaud -- Suspended until June 24, 2014, and no contact until June 15, 2014.

Again, just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases. In addition, not all injuries are recorded during the post-fight examination and often times surface in follow-up tests.

In other news, Vitor Belfort has kicked Lyoto Machida out of the No. 2 spot at middleweight because ... reasons.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has updated its "official" rankings in the wake of last weekend's UFC 173: "Barao vs. Dillashaw" mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which took place on Sat., May 24, 2014, inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

TJ Dillashaw shocked the world with his technical knockout victory over Renan Barao (watch it) and as such, has taken over the top spot at 135 pounds. In addition, "The Viper" debuts on the pound-for-pound list (No. 11) while sending the Brazilian down to No. 5.

Also getting promoted is light heavyweight contender Daniel Cormier, who jumps up two spots to No. 2 after knocking around Dan Henderson (No. 7) in the UFC 173 co-main event (video).
Just days removed from the performance of a lifetime, T.J. Dillashaw reflects on his big win over Renan Baro at UFC 173 to claim the bantamweight crown, as well as potentially having to fight his mentor and good friend, Urijah Faber.

T.J. Dillashaw shocked the mixed martial arts (MMA) world -- Chris Weidman style -- this past weekend (May 24, 2014) at UFC 173, defeating Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Bantamweight Champion Renan Baro via fifth round technical knockout in Las Vegas, Nevada.

See video highlights of his title-winning performance here.

But, unlike Weidman's two wins over former UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva at UFC 162 and then UFC 168, Dillashaw's victory over Barao didn't come with an unfortunate and unfair asterisk such as "goofing off" or a "shattered shin."

Dillashaw simply outshined and outclassed Barao for 4.5 rounds before delivering the crushing blow in the final frame.

Three days removed from the biggest win of his young MMA career, "The Viper" talked about his huge upset, revealing the turning point in the fight where he knew he had broken the prestigious Brazilian talent.

From his conversation on "The MMA Hour:"

"After that first round, I just got a huge rush going into the corner and I was like, 'Alright, I just got to keep doing that.' I don't think I knew I had him until the end of the second round. I saw it it in his eyes. I knew that I was going to be too much for him and that I was too fast and that I was going to be able to pick him apart."

The championship victory not only marked the first-ever UFC title for Dillashaw and Team Alpha Male, but also the first for Duane Ludwig as head coach. And it will likely be his last because "Bang" is now out as head coach of the Sacramento, Calif.,-based fight camp.

Even though Dillashaw admits Ludwig is the best coach he's ever had, he isn't bolting to Colorado to train full time with the psychedelic Muay Thai mind, planning to stay with the team that got him to where he is today.

His words:

"No, Alpha Male has the best team in the world. Not only do I have the best sparring partners, but they care about me and we care about each other. When you have that connection its so easy to help each other out and be there for each other. I have a whole team of coaches. Even though Duane is the best coach I've ever worked with, you can't ever get a team like team Alpha Male and the bond we have. So, I'm staying with they guys that helped get to where I am. I'm going to do some cross training with Duane for my camps."

Can't knock loyalty.

But, it won't necessarily signal the end for the Ludwig-Dillashaw winning combination, as T.J. still plans to train with the former kick-boxer when time allows. For now, Dillashaw plans to enjoy his win before looking toward his next challenge, which according to him, will likely be a rematch against Rafael Assuncao, the last man to defeat him.

Sorry, Barao, but you were simply "dominated" in the fight and an instant rematch isn't warranted, according to the new champ. And when asked the inevitable question if he would lever take on his mentor, Urijah Faber, in a future 135-pound showdown, Dillashaw offered up a surprising -- albeit super reluctant -- response.

His take:

"I don't want to. I don't want to fight Urijah. He's the one that got me into the sport. He's one of my best friends. He's such an amazing person. But, not saying that's not going to happen. Not saying that the boss man won't come to us with a ridiculous amount of money saying let do this. That's something we probably wouldn't turn down and we'd have to go do what we do in the gym everyday. Which is slap each other around and have a smile on our face. That's a great situation to be in because it means that we're both doing awesome and that we are going to get paid really well. But, I don't want to have to fight Urijah, obviously. Even if it were just about the money, I don't want to fight the guy. But, we are in the business, that is the business. We have a great camp and we are taking over the world, man."

The good news -- at least for now -- is that a fight between his best friend and training partner is the furthest thing on Dillashaw's mind -- he has plenty of challengers ready to take his throne. In addition to the aforementioned primetime players, former UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and Takeya Mizugaki are also lurking in the shadows.

But, who will ultimately get first crack?

UFC 173 is in the books and payouts and salaries are in the checkbooks. Here's a complete list of last Saturday night's (May 24, 2014) earnings for all the fighters competing at the "Barao vs. Dillashaw" pay-per-view (PPV) event in Las Vegas, Nevada.

UFC 173 fighter payouts for those competing at the "Barao vs. Dillashaw" pay-per-view (PPV) event last weekend (Sat., May 24, 2014) from inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, were released earlier today by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC).

In second place was light heavyweight contender Daniel Cormier, now richer by $170,000 after choking out Dan Henderson in the UFC 173 co-main event. But don't cry for "Hendo," who has 100,000 reasons to feel better about his loss to "DC".

Raphael Assuncao? Hit the bricks, kid. Dominick Cruz? Maybe next year.

Newly-crowned Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight titleholder TJ Dillashaw shocked the mixed martial arts (MMA) world by upsetting heavily-favored ex-division kingpin Renan Barao at the UFC 173 pay-per-view (PPV) event last Saturday night (May 24, 2014) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

See the video highlights here.

"The Viper" dropped the Brazilian in the very first round, and kept the pressure on until finishing him off in the fifth and final frame. Barao looked dazed and confused throughout the contest and now his coach, Andre Pederneiras, told No Mundo da Luta (via MMA Fighting) that Dillashaw owes his star pupil an immediate rematch in Brazil.

If he's "man enough" to do it.

"We're asking for an immediate rematch. It's fair, and we're looking a way to do it. It can't happen in less than five or six months, but I think that's how long T.J. is going to be out. Everybody wants to see another fight between them, since it was the fight of the night. The ideal would be bringing this fight to Brazil. There's going to be a big event here in Brazil, apparently in October in Rio de Janeiro. Let's see if these guys are man enough to fight Barao in his house."

Pederneiras is referring to UFC 179, which takes place on Oct. 25 in Rio.

While a rematch is definitely in order, Barao may have to wait his turn. It's not like he was stopped on a fluke knockout or nasty injury. He was flat-out schooled for four-and-a-half rounds. Plus, there are two other contenders breathing down his neck in the form of Raphael Assuncao and Dominick Cruz.

Decisions, decisions.
