Nick Diaz is known for saying and doing some outlandish things. But his claim that he was poisoned prior to his UFC 158 Welterweight title fight against former division champion Georges St-Pierre takes the cake.

“I think whoever tries to make that fight, I’m gonna have to give him a backhand slap,” Nick declared. “At the end of the day, I fought [St-Pierre], they poisoned my IV with some kind of weird ass drug. It put me to sleep!”

But was he really telling the truth?

During a recent appearance on the Joe Rogan experience podcast, St-Pierre made a bold confession that he did indeed poison the Stockton slugger to ease his fears for what was sure-to-be a tough challenge. He also enlisted the services of his alien friends.

“I got to confess. I was so scared during this fight, so we tried to poison since I was so scared of fighting Nick Diaz so we poisoned his IV. But he survived so I was even more terrified. All of the athletic commission was on my payroll so they tripped away and then I made it. It went through so I was even more terrified. So then an alien abducted me and they put the gamma ray to increase my strength like The Hulk, like performance enhancing drug and the fight was still happening. So right before that, I put some glass and cement in my gloves and I still a crazy hard fight.”

Georges with the jokes.

Aside from the “poison” theory, the Diaz camp felt the athletic commission looked the other way when St-Pierre — their hometown hero — actually missed weight for the title fight.

Wrapping up the UFC 158: "St. Pierre vs. Diaz" event that took place on Sat., March 16, 2013, at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, featuring Georges St. Pierre vs. Nick Diaz and much, much more.

UFC 158: "St. Pierre vs. Diaz" blew the roof off the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, last night (Sat., March 16, 2013) featuring a main event of Georges St. Pierre finally getting to climb inside the cage and settle his differences with Stockton bad boy Nick Diaz once and for all.

And he did just that, controlling the action for five full rounds.

The co-headlining attraction saw Johny Hendricks earn the right to fight St. Pierre for his welterweight title by defeating Carlos Condit in the "Fight of the Night" and the leading candidate for "Fight of the Year."

The other three main card bouts saw Jake Ellenberger knock Nate Marquardt into next week, Chris Camozzi eek out a decision from Nick Ring, and Mike Ricci take a decision from Colin Fletcher.

Nick Diaz may have lost handily to Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre last night (March 16, 2013) at UFC 158 in Montreal but that isn't stopping him from asking for a rematch.

Oh, this is rich.

Nick Diaz was soundly defeated by Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre in the main event of UFC 158: "St. Pierre vs. Diaz" last night (Sat., March 16, 2013) at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, losing all five rounds on the judges scorecard and hardly offering any offense en route to a one-sided defeat.

Despite that, and his calls to retire in the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, he's now asking for a rematch.

Indeed, in his follow up interview with FUEL TV, Diaz had the following to say about re-matching St.Pierre, who apparently hits like a girl:

"I want a rematch. Georges St-Pierre, if you'd give me a rematch, I‘d appreciate it because I could beat you. ... I'm trying to retire. I'm trying to get out of this gig. But I'd like a rematch. I think I can stop the takedowns and beat him. I'm not hurt. He hits like a woman. He hits like a girl because he's too scared to let go to get a real punch in."

The chances of Diaz getting his way are planted firmly somewhere between "slim" and "none." UFC President Dana White already revealed the promotion is committed to keeping true to its word that Johny Hendricks is the number one contender now that he defeated Carlos Condit in the co-main event of last night's show.

It helps that that bout was "Fight of the Night" and maybe "Fight of the Year" when the 2013 fight campaign is over.

For his part, St. Pierre told FUEL TV he's ready to move on from the entire Diaz experience. He also revealed he's on board with giving Hendricks the next shot at his 170-pound title because he now feels "Big Rig" is the next best guy in line.

"I want to fight the best guy and I think that's Johny Hendricks right now. ... I don't know when. I haven't taken a break since I came back from knee surgery. I need a vacation."

If it was up to you Maniacs would you rather see St. Pierre vs. Diaz one more time? Or is St. Pierre vs. Hendricks the right call?

You know, it's just too bad the bout didn't live up to its considerable hype. Sure, Diaz talked all the talk and St. Pierre promised to walk all the walk but come fight time, it was the same old song and dance with the French-Canadian welterweight king: takedown, control, jab, superman jab, takedown, more control, positional dominance, and yet another decision victory and successful title defense. It's hard to argue with the formula when it's gotten him this far but there's no doubting the lack of satisfaction fight fans feel after plopping down $60 for 25 minutes of ... that.
Georges St. Pierre is STILL the welterweight champion of the world after he defeated Nick Diaz in the main event of UFC 158 tonight (March 16, 2013) at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada

The most highly anticipated fight in a long, long time finally went down tonight (Sat., March 16, 2013) at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with Nick Diaz challenging welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre in the main event of UFC 158 live on pay-per-view.

And it went just about the way so many experts expected it to.

St. Pierre, the greatest welterweight champion of all time, used his old familiar wrestling game to take Diaz down and wear him out over the early rounds. His positional control is second to none and that's the strategy he employed to earn as many points as possible over the first three rounds.

By the time they got to the fourth, it was clear that Diaz needed to finish "Rush" in order to win the fight. He revealed after the bout that he knew as much but simply couldn't get the job done.

In fact, he went one step further and said he doesn't think he has it anymore and he plans to retire from mixed martial arts (MMA). He did the same thing after his loss to Carlos Condit but came back for this fight, so we'll see if that rings true this time.

Still, Georges St. Pierre is your 170-pound king and if the UFC sticks with its word, he'll meet Johny Hendricks later this year with his title once again on the line.

Everyone good with all this?

The most highly anticipated fight in a long, long time finally went down tonight (Sat., March 16, 2013) at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with Nick Diaz challenging welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre in the main event of UFC 158 live on pay-per-view.

Diaz was told after the fourth round that he had five minutes to get the job done or that would it for him. He came out firing away with punches too but St. Pierre was ready to fire back a few of his own.

Then they clinched and it seemed obvious both men were worn down. St. Pierre had the big advantage, though, because he could simply coast to the scorecards and win easily. Diaz, meanwhile, needed to give it everything he had and that's not what he did.

Once they reset, Diaz went with a high kick and fell on his ass, leading to St. Pierre rushing to come down and gain position where he could ride it out the rest of the way.

Diaz rolled but Georges maintained position through every single scramble. Even when they got back to their feet, Diaz had nothing to offer the champion. With 30 seconds to go, St. Pierre landed another takedown for good measure, simply putting an exclamation point on yet another title defense.

He is the king.

In between the third and fourth, the St. Pierre camp told the champ not to stand and trade with the challenger. It was there that Diaz would have his best chance to win and he was beyond clear that Nick simply couldn't hang with St. Pierre's superior wrestling.

Still, "Rush" opened standing across from the Stockton bad boy and allowing him to fire off. Part of that was not by design, though, as St. Pierre failed on three consecutive takedowns. Put simply, he didn't appear to have the gas in the tank that he did to start the bout.

The mental game playing a part?

A battle in the clinch led to Diaz landing a parting shot on the way out and a "GSP" chant from the Montreal faithful. And then it got funny once again, as Nick opted not to come in with punches in favor of simply walking back-and-forth with his hands down.

Weird.

Finally, with two minutes remaining in the first of two championship rounds, the French-Canadian grabbed another takedown to seal yet another round in his favor, putting him up 4-to-0.

Utter and complete domination, outside of a few punches that opened a cut on St. Pierre's face.

The round came to an end with St. Pierre still on top and only five minutes away from vanquishing his most annoying rival yet.

Round three opened with Diaz calling St. Pierre a bitch and the commentary team pointing it out as much as possible. The champion tried to stay focused and fired off a few jabs but failed on his next takedown attempt.

A turning of the tide perhaps?

Nope. Within the next 20 seconds, "GSP" got his arms around his foe and put his ass right back on the mat. Diaz crawled his way to the fence this time, using it to once again get back to his feet. It was there that he finally found some measure of success by going to the body and working some leg kicks from the outside.

Then, St. Pierre looked for another takedown but failed on yet another one. Diaz wasn't capitalizing, however, as "Rush" was actually hitting a straight right or two.

It got odd really quick, though.

St. Pierre looked up at the clock and appeared, dare I say it, a bit tired. Diaz started laying some shots into him and they looked to hit their mark. It became clear they did on "GSP's" next takedown when blood came spurting out of his face all over Diaz's back.
