Just got a ring on my door bell at 6:50 am.. Ended up being the Nevada state athletic commission. Now..I have 2 kids and a pregnant wife so usually I would be pissed someone showing up like that but this is worth the inconvenience. They took blood and urine. First time being tested like that since I got in the sport. Really excited that they are starting to test fighters like this. Hope this really cleans up the sport!! #cleanathleteChris Weidman posted the news to Facebook that he was singled out by Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) for his upcoming fight against Vitor Belfort at UFC 187 on May 23 in Las Vegas (that's twice if you're counting). The "All American" was asked to provide a urine and blood sample -- something also required of "The Phenom" -- to guarantee the legitimacy of their 185-pound title fight. Let's hope this round of testing ends better than the last one.
"I woke up this morning and I got a text from Ariel Helwani that he was sorry for my fight been cancel! I don't have a clue at this point, but I trust the UFC made a decision for a good reason!"UFC canceled the Hector Lombard vs. Rory MacDonald co-main event at UFC 186 (and replaced it with this) and not only did the promotion fail to explain why, it never even bothered to tell "Showeather" (via Instagram), who didn't find out until Ariel Helwani texted his condolences. Sound familiar? It should, as the same thing happened to Ben Henderson just last month...
"Believe it or not, despite my current streak, I'm actually going to be stepping down from being a fighter. It's probably one of the worst professions of all time. Yeah, I'm going to be retiring from MMA, not that anyone cares because I've only fought once in the last year."The MMA Hour
MMA judging is the pits; it's just as bad as boxingRick Rude
I wish they would stop making PFP rankings cause they don't make any sense. There should be division champs of course, but I want there to also be tournament champs. At least it would give guys who normally don't have a shot at the title to prove their worth. Let me give you maniacs an example. If you watch the NFL or NBA like i do, then you'll see that there is a "number 1" spot for each respective league. Whether it be the western conference or eastern conference in the nba, Or the AFC NFC for the NFL. To me that's where the division champs are. The number 1 spot. However, once their is a "tournament" ( playoffs) then the "best team" doesn't always win. I just think it would be fun to see who would win in say a heavyweight tourney or any other weight class for that matter tourney and see who wins just for shits and giggles. that being said, who would win each respective weight class tournament? I think in every weight class there would be surprises considering the injury aspect and the "tough guy" aspect. Funny thing is I really want to say cain would win the heavy weight tourney but I just don't know... and that's why i think it would be exciting. Any thoughts?
One man involved reportedly laid unconscious in the pool of his own blood for about 15 minutes. He was taken to hospital for treatment and was released, police said. Police said they did interview another man involved in the fight. "It’s just one of those things — it just sounds like two guys fighting at UFC," said Winnipeg police spokesman Const. Eric Hofley.Canadian law enforcement doing a bang-up job at last weekend's UFC 161 event at MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
