Another Octagon newcomer shined in their debut earlier today (Sat., Nov. 18, 2023) at UFC Vegas 82 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, as Myktybek Orolbai stepped up on short notice and shocked lightweight striker Uros Medic with a nasty submission (neck crank).
Medic was on point in the early going as he utilized his range and a variety of offensive attacks to put Orolbai in trouble. Orolbai wasn’t going down without a fight and decided to completely flip the script, landing takedown after takedown and started to drag Medic to deep water. Medic was trying to defend and get back to his feet, but the takedown attempts were relentless.
Late into the second round Orolbai was able to catch Medic along the cage. He then worked toward Medic’s back and quickly searched for a choke. Orolbai found an opening for a gnarly neck crank, applied an incredible amount of pressure, and closed the fight out in fashion.
It was an impressive short-notice debut for the Team Alpha Male fighter and a walkup call for the rest of the UFC lightweight division. Check out the video highlights below:
