Seven months after winning the $1 million Bantamweight Grand Prix finale — as well as the interim title — with a spectacular knockout win over Raufeon Stots, Patchy Mix earned the right to face division champion, Sergio Pettis, in the co-main event of Bellator 301.
And he delivered another amazing performance.
After a feeling out process in the first round where there really wasn’t a ton of action, Mix turned it on in the second frame. After a couple of successful take-downs, Mix was able to sink in a rear-naked choke on “The Phenom,” who fought hard to escape. Undeterred, Mix proceeded to squeeze harder, which prompted Pettis to tap just as the referee was going in to stop it before he passed out.

With five straight wins in his back pocket, Mix is now the Bellator MMA undisputed champion at 135 pounds and could be looking at a rematch against Stots (No. 2), who defeated Danny Sabatello for a second time earlier on the card.
