Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Bantamweight champion, Dominick Cruz, will get another chance to crack the Top 10 when he meets Pedro Munhoz.
Cruz vs. Munhoz is expected to take place at UFC 269, which is scheduled for Sat., Dec. 11, 2021, streaming online via ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV), according to MMA Fighting. Munhoz (No. 9) and Cruz (No. 11) are trending in different directions: the former seeks to prevent a losing streak and the latter hopes to spark a win streak.
Cruz (23-3) is coming off a win against Casey Kenney, his first win since a June 2016 title defense against long-time rival, Urijah Faber. Prior to the Kenney fight, “The Dominator” fell short in UFC Bantamweight title fights against Cody Garbrandt and Henry Cejudo. Over the course of his career, Cruz has defeated the likes of T.J. Dillashaw, Demetrious Johnson, Joseph Benavidez (twice) and Ian McCall, among others.
Munhoz (19-6-0-1) most recently suffered a loss to former UFC Featherweight champion, Jose Aldo, via unanimous decision. The long-time ranked fighter has defeated Garbrandt, Rob Font and Jimmie Rivera in the past.
No location or venue has been announced for UFC 269. The card boasts two UFC title fights: Amanda Nunes vs. Julianna Pena and Brandon Moreno vs. Deiveson Figueiredo.
