Israel Adesanya makes ‘school shooters’ joke: ‘This ain’t getting deleted’

UFC’s Middleweight champion doesn’t have a fight officially lined up, but he has an ill-advise punchline about school shootings.

Israel Adesanya is standing by his sense of humor after tweeting a questionable “joke” about school shooters.

Comedian Andrew Schulz shared a tweet on Tuesday morning comparing and contrasting mixed martial arts (MMA) fans to school shooters: “In a virginity contest it’s MMA fans > School Shooters right?”

Adesanya — the reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight titleholder —quote retweeted Schulz’s comment, adding the fighter’s own brand of tasteless “humor.”

“MMA fans just talk about how they’re a badass blue belt and they could be in the UFC [right now], blah blah blah. School shooters at least know how to… shoot their shot. *badum tsss,” Adesanya tweeted on Tuesday. “This ain’t getting deleted,” he added in a subsequent tweet.

“The Last Stylebender” issued an apology earlier this year after making a “rape” joke.

“Last weekend fight talk escalated to a point in which I crossed the line,” Adesanya wrote in March. “I understand the gravity of this word and how it can affect and hurt other people apart from my opponent, although that was NEVER my intention. I am still (learning) to growing under the spotlight, and I take this as a lesson to be more selective with words under pressure.”

Last year, Adesanya promised to choose his words more carefully after promising that his UFC 248 opponent Yoel Romero would “crumble like the Twin Towers.”
