Jake Paul survives right hand bomb, decisions Tyron Woodley

Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley will go to war tonight (Sun., Aug. 29, 2021) in a main event Cruiserweight clash from inside Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio. The would-be rise of Paul continues late this evening, taking a big step forward in competition. Rather than a former basketball player or arguably the worst striker in UFC history, Paul squares off with a former UFC Welterweight champion and knockout artist in Tyron Woodley. Beyond the intriguing path of Paul, there’s been a great deal of personal drama between the two, which climaxed with an ugly clash between Paul’s crew and Woodley’s mother at the Showtime press conference.

Former Cruiserweight and Heavyweight undisputed world champion, EVANDER ‘REAL DEAL’ HOLYFIELD will battle Former UFC Light Heavyweight champion, VITOR ‘THE PHENOM’ BELFORT, in an eight-round boxing showdown set for Sat., Sept. 11, 2021, streaming online via Triller pay-per-view (PPV). “Holyfield vs. Belfort,” which will take place inside Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla., start time is slated for 7 p.m. ET, with a PPV price tag of $49.99. Round one:

No touch of gloves to start this one! Woodley comes out with a major right hand swing that does not land. Woodley jabs to the mid-section. Paul answers with a right hand touch to the body. Paul puts together a short combination behind the jab. Another combo for Paul, with authority this time. Woodley isn’t throwing much, but he finds a couple body shots. Nothing too major in the first five minutes, but Paul was the busier man. 10-9 Paul

Round two:

Early Paul right hand over the top is blocked. Paul plays to the crowd, throws a body punch. Left hook for Paul. Woodley finally throws a cross to the mid-section. Solid combo to the bread basket from Paul. Woodley finds a glancing right hand, eats a jab and a hook. Paul touches Woodley with a three-piece. Woodley tries to answer with a combo, but it’s short. Woodley has to pick it up if he wants to win rounds. 10-9 Paul

Round three:

Woodley answers a body shot with a nice left hook, and he’s looking more aggressive to start the third. Paul clinches to shut it down. Long jabs from Paul. Best 1-2 yet for Woodley lands to the top of the head. Paul puts together a nice combo to the body then head. Solid counter hook from Paul. Body jab. Woodley combination is largely blocked, but at least he threw it! Paul sneaks an uppercut through the guard. Paul misses on a big overhand swing. Woodley stings a right ... perhaps after the bell. 10-9 Paul

Round four:

Woodley firing early, scores with a good left hook. Paul jabs downstairs, misses with his right. Paul scores with a body shot. Another, this time followed by a left hook. Woodley finds a cross to the right then glances with another right upstairs. Woodley lands a heavy overhand that stuns Paul, who sticks his tongue out in response. Woodley is stalking, looking to trap Paul in the corner. Uppercut from Woodley. The two trade lefts. Paul makes it to the end of the round without hitting the canvas. 10-9 Woodley

Round five:

Body shot from Woodley starts the fifth. Stiff jab from Paul. Woodley scores an uppercut. Woodley the aggressor now. Quick right hand scores for the former UFC champ. Paul goes to the body with his jab. Paul scores with a left hook. 1-2 from Paul. Woodley lands a jab, then the two clinch. The two trade at the bell to end the closest round yet. 10-9 Woodley

Round six:

Solid jab from Woodley, who has fought much better since stunning Paul. “The Problem Child” finds a long right hand. Woodley jab connects. Paul puts together a combination then misses another. Paul finds something of a left uppercut. Double hook from Paul, then they trade rights. More clinches. Woodley finds a right before the bell. Slow-paced round, but Paul 10-9

Round seven:

1-1-2 lands for Woodley but without a ton of speed. Equally slow double jab back from Paul. Crowd chants for Jake Paul, who eats a left hook. Paul doubles on with his lead hand, eats a counter, lands his own check hook. Solid jab from Paul. Another. Woodley lands a left hook will marching forward. 2-1 lands clean for Paul. Left hook to the body from Paul. Good overhand connects for Paul. 10-9 Paul

Round eight:

Woodley scores early with a right, and the two exchange. Both look a bit more refreshed than in the last couple rounds. Double jab from Paul to the torso. Good overhand from Paul. Good jab stick from Paul. Woodley tries to flurry, gets wrapped up in the clinch. Solid right hand connection for Woodley. Another. Paul plays matador to the final bell then jumps onto the ropes. 10-9 Woodley

Final result: Jake Paul defeats Tyron Woodley via split-decision (77-75, 75-77, 78-74)
