GOAT on wheels — Artem Lobov is wheelchair boxing for charity

“The Russian Hammer” may have retired from MMA and bareknuckle boxing, but the G.O.A.T. is giving wheelchair boxing a go.

Monkey see, monkey do ...

Artem Lobov will face Paddy Holohan in a wheelchair boxing match for charity later this year. Indeed, a photo of Lobov prepping for the fight was posted by comedian Stevo Timothy.

“What a day. What an experience! The absolute gentleman Artem Lobov invited me up for a bit of training ahead of my fight with [Irish Olympian] Paddy Barnes,” Timothy tweeted on Saturday. “It was immense. And not only that but he will now take part in the charity wheelchair fight against none other than Paddy Holohan.”

Lobov (13-15 in MMA, 2-2 in bare-knuckle boxing) retired from both sports following a technical knockout loss to Ukrainian professional boxer Denys Berinchyk at Mahatch FC in Kyiv, Ukraine, just last month (watch highlights). He left UFC with a promotional record of 2-5 and three consecutive losses, most recently suffering a unanimous decision loss to Michael Johnson in Oct. 2018.

Holohan (12-1) retired from mixed martial arts (MMA) following a loss to Louis Smolka at a UFC Fight Night in Dublin, Ireland in Oct. 2015. The retirement was caused by a rare blood disorder.
