Ignacio Bahamondes turned in one of the best knockout finishes of the year earlier tonight (Sat., Aug. 21, 2021) at UFC Vegas 34 live on ESPN/ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, when the Chilean fighter stopped lightweight fighter Roosevelt Roberts with a third-round spinning back kick.

HIGH STAKES LIGHTWEIGHT MATCHUP! Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to UFC APEX on Sat., Sept. 23, 2023, with a high stakes 155-pound showdown as No. 6-ranked contender, Rafael Fiziev, takes on No. 7-seeded Mateusz Gamrot. Despite a stiff jab from Roberts that bloodied Bahamondes up from the opening bell it was Bahamondes who controlled the fight at every turn. With heavy leg kicks, relentless attacks to the body, and combinations up top, Bahamondes had Roberts on his heels the entire fight. However, that didn’t stop Bahamondes from going in for the kill as the 23-year-old prospect launched a spinning back kick with 10 seconds remaining in the third round that instantly put Roberts out.

What a finish by Bahamondes who came up short in his Octagon debut in a hard-fought scrap with veteran John Makdessi back in April. Not only was Bahamondes winning this fight through all three rounds, but he kept his foot on the gas when it mattered most and put away a tough guy in Roberts. That’s going to go a long way with UFC when his next bout is booked.
