Melsik Baghdasaryan lived up to his billing earlier tonight (Sat., July 31, 2021) at UFC Vegas 33 live on ESPN/ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, as the former kickboxer leaned on his striking to obliterate fellow UFC newcomer Collin Anglin with a nasty second-round TKO (head kick and punches).
Anglin’s chin was tested early as Baghdasaryan moved in for vicious strikes. Surprisingly, Anglin weathered the storm to grab a hold of the clinch and land some solid knees. Baghdasaryan seemed to tire after a few of the exchanges and Anglin started to creep back into the fight.
In Round 2, Baghdasaryan turned up the heat and clipped Anglin with a few crisp shots. Anglin started to drop his hands and it allowed Baghdasaryan to launch a perfect head kick that slammed into Anglin and knocked him down. Baghdasaryan landed a few insurance shots before the referee stepped in.

Baghdasaryan, 29, has now won his last six MMA fights since losing his debut bout back in 2014. After taking a hiatus from the sport to focus on kickboxing Baghdasaryan has since returned to MMA and eager to prove his striking chops. Fortunately for the Armenian fighter he was able to display his hands and kicks tonight in a UFC debut on ESPN. It will be interesting to see what he can do next in a talented featherweight division, especially if his striking skills hold up.
