Anderson Silva and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. both tipped the scales earlier today for their “Tribute to the Kings” boxing match this weekend (Sat., June 19, 2021) inside Estadio Jalisco in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Unfortunately, Chavez Jr. once again missed weight for the fight after coming in at 184 pounds for a bout scheduled to go down at 182 pounds.
As a result, Chavez Jr. will have to pay Silva $100,000 for missing the mark.
The two striking specialists came face-to-face following the ceremonial weigh-ins and you can watch them square off in the embedded video above.
The FITE.tv pay-per-view (PPV) bout is the first major boxing bout for Silva, a former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight champion who is looking to start a new chapter in his storied combat career after parting ways with the promotion in 2020. As for Chavez Jr., he is looking for his second straight win after defeating Jeyson Minda in Nov. 2020.
Also throwing down will be Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. taking on Hector Camacho Jr.
The event will be available for your viewing pleasure via FITE.tv and has a price of $39.99. The card is set to kick off starting at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT.
