Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently announced the booking of a very intriguing Featherweight bout between former 145-pound champion, Max Holloway, taking on division standout Yair Rodriguez. Now, the betting odds for the bout are starting to trickle in. And perhaps to the surprise of nobody, Rodriguez (13-2-1) opened as the +300 underdog against the former 145-pound champion, who comes in as the -375 favorite, according to Bet Online.
Holloway is coming off a dominant unanimous decision win over Calvin Kattar, battering the “Boston Finisher” for five rounds at UFC Fight Island 7 to give him his first win since July 2019. Before that, “Blessed” dropped back-to-back title fights to current champion, Alexander Volkanovski.
As for Rodriguez, he hasn’t stepped foot inside the Octagon since defeating Jeremy Stephens in Oct. 2019. Overall, “El Pantera” has amassed an 8-1-1 record under the UFC banner and is looking to cut the championship line with a win over the Hawaiian bomber.
The two men will be headlining a scheduled Fight Night event on July 17, 2021, at a location that is yet-to-be determined, though UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, is the likely destination. That said, other locations are possible now that several states across the nation are starting to ease back on their COVID-19 restrictions.
