Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman had to be stretchered out of the Octagon last night (Sat., Apr. 24, 2021) at UFC 261 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla., after snapping his leg on a kick to Uriah Hall just 17 seconds into their main card bout.
Weidman was hoping to regain momentum within the middleweight division with a big win over a streaking Hall, but unfortunately the former champion suffered a serious injury in the opening moments of the fight. While launching a kick to Hall’s lead leg “Prime Time” slightly moved his leg and Weidman’s shined caved in. The veteran fighter didn’t realize his leg broke until he stepped back on it and immediately fell to the canvas in agony.

This was hard to watch considering the type of fighter Weidman is and the fact that he was trying to make one last run at middleweight gold. It’s also ironic considering Anderson Silva broke his leg against Chris Weidman with a similar kick.
