Bellator 255 results: Live streaming play-by-play updates | ‘Pitbull vs Sanchez 2’

Bellator 255: “Pitbull vs. Sanchez 2” is set to air TONIGHT (Fri., April 2, 2021) from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., broadcasting via Showtime. The “champ-champ” Patricio Freire (31-4) puts his Featherweight title on the line in a rematch with Emmanuel Sanchez (20-4), which also serves as a Featherweight World Grand Prix semifinal bout.

Bellator 255’s main card will air on Showtime (and elsewhere) at 9 p.m. ET. MMAmania.com will deliver results for the full card and comprehensive play-by-play for the televised portion of Bellator 255 below.

BELLATOR 255 PLAY-BY-PLAY:

Patricio Freire vs. Emmanuel Sanchez

Round 1: Here we go! High kick misses for Sanchez. Pitbull taking his time. Low kick lands for Sanchez. Pitbull yet to strike after one minute in. Body strike from Pitbull. Another low kick for Sanchez. Sanchez really uses his kicks well, just like in the first fight. 1-2 lands for Pitbull. Sanchez dives in and Pitbull unloads a three punch combination and then drops Sanchez with a left hook. Pitbull sinks in a guillotine and Sanchez goes to sleep quickly! Wow, what a performance from the champ-champ.

Final result: Pitbull defeats Sanchez via first round submission


Neiman Gracie vs. Jason Jackson

Round 1: They meet in the center and exchanges kicks. Gracie bull rushes in with a one-two but whiffs. Jackson fires back. A clean right hand from Jackson lands. Gracie goes in for a takedown but misses and he is on the mat. Jackson dives in. It’s a mistake because Gracie reverses quickly and he takes Jackson’s back. Gracie looking for a rear-naked choke. Jackson seems to be injured. It is unclear what happened. Gracie still looking for a submission. Jackson defending well so far. Jackson manages to turn around but now Gracie has full guard. The referee calls for time to take a look at Jackson’s eye. Replay shows Jackson’s eye gets raked across the cage. He is allowed to continue after the doctor checks him out. Gracie back in top control but Jackson reverses and is now in Gracie’s guard. Jackson gets up and then takes Gracie back down. They get back up quickly. Jackson with a hard calf kick. Jackson takes Gracie down, tremendous power. 10-9 Jackson.

Round 2: Gracie comes out quick and eats a right hand. Low kick from Gracie. Calf kick from Jackson and then a 1-2. Gracie takes him down and sinks in a hook as he attempts to take Jackson’s back. Jackson looking for a kimura as he defends his back. The action is pressed up against the cage. Gracie with a right hand and Jackson’s left eye is starting to swell up. Gracie pushes Jackson up against the cage and takes him down again. Gracie controlling Jackson against the fence. Jackson trying hard to get back up by Gracie neutralizes his legs. Jackson looks a bit frustrated as he can’t escape Gracie’s hold. Gracie rides out the round in the same top position. 10-9 Gracie

Round 3: Jab from Jackson and Gracie lands a calf kick. Both men are landing hard shots. The action is halted for a second after Gracie pokes Jackson in his right eye. Now the doctor is in to check that out. Stiff jabs land for both men as the action resumes. Gracie tries to take him down and Jackson ends up on top. Jackson is trying hard to keep Gracie down, covering his mouth in the process to alter his breathing. Now they are talking to one another as Jackson continues to hold top position. Gracie looking for the reversal. Jackson maintains position for over two minutes to win the round. The first round is going to be the deciding factor since it can go either way, tough to judge. 10-9 Jackson.

Final result: Jason Jackson wins via unanimous decision


Tyrell Fortune vs. Jack May

Round 1: Low kick from Fortune and he goes in scores a quick takedown. Fortune throwing shots as the two are tangled up against the cage. May works his way back up but Fortune is pushing him up against the cage. Fortune lands another takedown but May bounces back up quickly. Fortune takes May down again and starts throwing some heavy bombs. Now in side control. Both big men are breathing heavy early on with this fast pace. Short elbows from Fortune. May trying to escape but his foe is smothering him. Fortune starts unloading big shots and May isn’t defending. Elbows and punchs right after another. Stop it already! More punches and the referee finally steps in. Once they are back to the feet they still want to go at it as Fortune has some words for May before they are separated.

Final result: Tyrell Fortune defeats Jack May via first round technical knockout


Usman Nurmagomedov vs. Mike Hamel

Round 1: The two exchange kicks to open up the round. Hamel looks to put on the pressure early on. Low kick from Nurmagomedov and then he lands a high kick. Nurmagomedov with a heavy dose of kicks to start the round. Hamel isn’t backing down. Spinning kick to the body from Nurmagomedov lands. Hamel fires back with a right hand to the body. Another kick to the body lands for Nurmagomedov. Hamel lands an overhand right but Nurmagomedov takes it well. Hamel winds up with another right hand that misses. High kick from Nurmagomedov and he slips but bounces back up. Hamel’s face is showing some damage from Nurmagomedov’s jabs. Usman looks for a takedown but lets it go and lands a high kick. 10-9 Nurmagomedov.

Round 2: Hamel comes in aggressive again and Nurmagomedov fires another kick to the body. Hamel closes in and lands a straight right hand. More kicks from a calm and cool Nurmagomedov. Low kick from Hamel and nearly lands a takedown but Nurmagomedov shows great control on the way down and defends well. Undeterred, Hamel keeps on the pressure. One-two from Nurmagomedov as he defends another takedown attempt. Hamel’s nose is bleeding. Leg kick from Hamel as he eats another jab for his efforts. Hamel is breathing heavy. Hamel is very aggressive but can’t seem to land nothing clean. Hamel whiffs on a high kick and stiff jab from Nurmagomedov lands on the nose to end the round. 10-9 Nurmagomedov.

Round 3: They meet in the center of the cage and exchange strikes and kicks. Hamel closes in and nearly takes Nurmagomedov down. Hamel trying hard to take Nurmagomedov’s back but escapes. Hamel drops his mouthpiece. Hamel continues to throw but can’t land cleanly. Hamel is taking some shots from Nurmagomedov but is pushing forward, what heart. Front kick from Nurmagomedov lands. Another front kick lands for Nurmagomedov that seems to hurt Hamel momentarily. Two minutes to go. Hamel goes in for another takedown attempt and has Nurmagomedov’s back while on his knees. Nurmagomedov escapes and back to the center of the cage. Hamel is breathing hard but still keeps firing. Stiff jab from Nurmagomedov. Hamel tries another takedown, he is relentless but can’t get it. Another jab lands for Nurmagomedov and then another kick to the body. Hamel attempts a flying knee to close out the round. What a fight. 10-9 Nurmagomedov.

Final result: Usman Nurmagomedov defeats Mike Hamel via unanimous decision.


Alejandra Lara vs. Kana Watanabe

Round 1: Lara opens up with a low kick and Watanabe doesn’t back down. Lara lands a big left hand. Both are firing big shots to begin with a furious pace. Watanabe — a judoka — scores a takedown. Lara tries to get up but Watanabe takes her back down and tries to take her back. Knees to the ribs from Watanabe and Lara works her way back up. After a few exchanges, Watanabe tries to take Lara down but “Azul” uses her momentum to reverse the takedown. She takes her back and tries to flatten her out. Watanabe escapes. Back to the center of the cage and Lara lands a low kick, Watanabe closes in and lands a right hook. Three-punch combo lands for Lara. Another 1-2 from Lara than lands cleanly, her striking is on point. Watanabe closes in and tries to get another takedown but no-go. 10-9 for Lara.

Round 2: Watanabe lands a nice right hand but Lara fires back with a left of her own. Knee to the midsection from Watanabe and Lara drops Watanabe with a clean strike but she bounces right back up. Stiff jab from Watanabe as she goes in and lands a nice takedown with a trip. She peppers Lara with some short punches in side control as she works to take her back. Lara tries to reverse but Watanabe holds her position. Watanabe now in full guard. Lara lands an elbow from bottom position and she reverses position and is now on top. Watanabe is working for a kimura. Watanabe seems to be trying to sink an armbar but Lara’s defense is too good. Now Watanabe reverses and takes Lara’s back. She flattens Lara out and lands some big shots to close out the round. 10-9 Watanabe

Round 3: Lara lands a straight left but Watanabe fires back. Lara lands a left hook and Watanabe slips to one knee. Watanabe pushes Lara against the cage and lands another takedown. Watanabe tries to land some hammer fists but Lara blocks and punches back from the bottom. Watanabe now in Lara’s guard. Now in half guard. Watanabe seems content with trying to ride out the final round in this position. Lara tries to escape but Watanabe isn’t budging. Lara looks exhausted and frustrated as she tries to get out from bottom. Watanabe continues to smother her opponent while landing some shots any chance she gets. A minute to go and Watanabe has been in top control for over three minutes. Lara tries one last push but can’t get up. Watanabe tries a guillotine and Lara pushes for one more attempt to escape to close out the round. 10-9 Watanabe.

Final result: Kana Watanabe defeats Alejandra Lara via split decision
