An intriguing Featherweight fight is being targeted to go down at the upcoming Bellator 257 event on April 16, 2021, with a report from MMA Fighting stating that Pedro Carvalho has agreed to face Daniel Weichel. The bout has yet to be formally made official, though both sides have reportedly agreed to hook ‘em up.
Carvalho is looking to bounce back after suffering a first round knockout loss at the hands of current Bellator MMA “champ-champ,” Patricio Freire, at Bellator 252 in Nov. 2020. The loss snapped his six-fight win streak.
Weichel, meanwhile, is also looking to get back on the winner’s podium after suffering a unanimous decision loss to Emmanuel Sanchez (also at Bellator 252). The loss was his third in previous four tries inside the Bellator cage, so he is in desperate need of a victory here to avoid digging himself a deeper hole.
Bellator 257 — which will air exclusively on Showtime — will be headlined by a Light Heavyweight title fight between division champion, Vadim Nemkov, taking on Phil Davis as part of the opening round of the promotion’s 205-pound Grand Prix.
In addition, Anthony Johnson and Yoel Romero will collide in another first round match up. More recently, Paul Daley was booked to face Sabah Homasi at this event, too.
