Bruno Silva finally captured his first Octagon victory earlier tonight (Sat., Mar. 20, 2021) at UFC Vegas 22 live on ESPN/ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nev., when he finished Octagon newcomer J.P. Buys via second-round TKO (punch).
Silva came into this flyweight bout as a betting underdog but the Brazilian didn’t seem to care. He controlled Buys on the ground and also landed some spinning attacks on the feet. Buys tried to come out firing in the second round but Silva was there to clobber him with multiple knockdowns. Silva eventually landed a final right hand that forced the referee to step in.

Silva came into this fight winless in his first three UFC appearances so he needed this win to stay afloat in the promotion. Buys didn’t exactly look as good as advertised, but he’s tough and certainly kept coming forward. Silva’s power was on full display and he should try using it a little more moving forward. That is if UFC sends him his second contract.
