James Gallagher will look to add to his current hot streak inside the Bellator MMA cage when he faces off against Patrick Mix at the upcoming Bellator 258 event on May 7, 2021, according to MMA Junkie.

Since losing to Ricky Bandejas in 2018 via knockout (see it again here), Gallagher has been on a tear, winning four in a row including scoring three stoppage victories over Steven Graham, Roman Salazar and was most recently seen defeating Callum Ellenor at Bellator Milan last October via first round submission.

Picking up consecutive win number five, however, will be a daunting task because Mix is a monster in his own right. Prior to losing to current Bellator 135 pound champion Juan Archuleta at Bellator 246 last September, “Patchy” was undefeated at 13-0 with 10 stoppage wins on his professional MMA resume.

Mix has competed for the promotion twice before, scoring wins over Isaiah Chapman, as well as a first round submission victory over the aforementioned Ricky Bandejas at Bellator 222 in June of 2019. It’s a great matchup between a contender looking to get back to the big dance while the other is in search of his first-ever world title fight under the Bellator umbrella.

The event — which airs exclusively on Showtime — will feature a Bantamweight title fight with Juan Archuleta defending his Bellator MMA Bantamweight title against Sergio Pettis. As of this writing, there are no other matchups announced for the event.
