John Castaneda gave fight fans their fifth-straight knockout finish earlier tonight (Sat., Feb. 20, 2021) at UFC Vegas 19 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, as the former Combate Americas standout stopped UFC veteran Eddie Wineland via first-round TKO (punches).
Wineland looked good in the early going as he landed with his right hand and launched some good kicks to the body. That was until Castaneda gained more confidence on the feet and found a home for a ridiculous combination along the cage. “Sexi Mexi” landed about six or seven punches without Wineland defending and the referee was forced to step in.

Castaneda made a fill-in debut last July against bantamweight contender Nathaniel Wood and came up short so it was nice to see the Mexican fighter perform coming off a full camp. If this is any indication of what Castaneda can do at 135 pounds he could quickly make his push towards the top 15.
