Jamall Emmers was unable to make his walk to the Octagon earlier tonight (Sat., Feb. 20, 2021) at UFC Vegas 19 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, forcing UFC officials to cancel his “Prelims” showdown with featherweight veteran Chas Skelly.
Skelly, who was making his return to the cage for the first time since September 2019, made his walk to the Octagon first. Just about the time “Scrapper” stepped inside of the cage a UFC official walked out and announced that Emmers was experiencing serious back spasms backstage and was deemed unable to compete.
We’ve seen last-minute fight cancellations before, but nothing ever like this. Skelly was literally in the cage as his bout was canned. Truly a disappointing moment for a fighter who waited 17 months to make his return.

Skelly, 35, is coming off a decision win over Jordan Griffin back at UFC on ESPN+ 16. The veteran fighter has compiled a 7-3 (1 NC) record since making his UFC debut back in 2014 and will now have to wait a little longer to get back into the cage.
Luis Pena, who had his lightweight bout with Drakkar Klose canceled just a few hours ago, has offered to fight Skelly later tonight.
