Polyana Viana delivered the first finish earlier tonight (Sat. Feb. 13, 2021) at UFC 258 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, as the women’s strawweight fighter finished game challenger Mallory Martin via first-round submission (armbar).
It didn’t take long for the action to hit the canvas which is where Viana started to shine. The 28-year-old Brazilian quickly locked up a triangle attempt that had Martin in serious trouble. Martin was able to keep her cool and defend long enough to have Viana switch up her game and apply a tight armbar. Martin tried to wiggle free and bend her arm back, but it didn’t work. She eventually tapped.

This is actually Viana’s second-straight, first-round armbar finish after stopping Emily Whitmire last August. Viana seems to be clicking on all cylinders of late so it will be interesting to see where she goes from here. This quick finish should allow her to get back in the Octagon in short time.
