Laureano Staropoli vs. Jamie Pickett is off UFC Vegas 39, the ESPN+-streamed card headlined by Mackenzie Dern vs. Marina Rodriguez this weekend (Sat., Oct. 9, 2021) in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The event, which will take place inside UFC’s Apex facility, is now down to 10 fights after one of Pickett’s coaches tested positive for COVID-19. The bout cancelation was initially reported by AgFight and subsequently confirmed by MMA Junkie.
Pickett (11-6) vs. Staropoli (9-4) will reportedly be rescheduled for the UFC Fight Night event on Oct. 23, 2021.
Both fighters are in desperate need of a win. Staropoli enters the fight with three consecutive losses, a far cry from his 2-0 start in the UFC. Pickett, on the other hand, has lost both his fights in the promotion since earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series in Aug. 2020.
