Mike Perry vs. Diego Sanchez being considered, says BKFC boss

UFC veterans Mike Perry and Diego Sanchez could be paired up in BKFC, says David Feldman

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) President David Feldman knows he will get slack if Mike Perry vs. Diego Sanchez comes to fruition.

Sanchez, 39, is still in negotiations with BKFC, according to Feldman. In a new interview, the BKFC boss suggested a fight with Perry, 30, is possible.

“Yeah, we are still in talks with Diego. We had some things come up in New Mexico as we were going to do some things there but that will be postponed to early next year,” Feldman said to about Sanchez. “His name could come up for Mike Perry. But, we always said when we matched up Diego we would make sure we matched him right and not in over his head. I don’t know if Mike Perry is over his head or not. They are both identical styles.

“Diego would be good, a lot of people would talk about that fight. We would probably catch a lot of scrutiny because people say they don’t want to see Diego fight anymore,” he added. “But, at the end of the day, Diego always comes to fight, and if he’s matched right and trains right you can get a very good Diego that will stay in the middle of the ring and bang it out.”

Sanchez (30-13) is 5-5 across 10 fights in the last five years. Four of his victories were by way of decision; meanwhile, three of the loss came via knockout (KO) or technical knockout (TKO). The Ultimate Fighter season one middleweight winner has been competing professionally since 2002.

Perry (14-8) is 3-7 across his last 10 fights dating back to Dec. 2017. He won all three of those fights by decision and was only finished twice in that stretch. “Platinum” made his professional mixed martial arts (MMA) debut in Sept. 2014. Perry actually has one more (T)KO victory on his record, despite Sanchez having nearly twice as many pro fights.
