Marvin Vettori and Paulo Costa are booked to fight in the main event of UFC Vegas 41, but whether their bout will go down at the Middleweight limit of 186 pounds remains to be seen.
According to Vettori, Paulo Costa and his team are looking to adjust the weight of the bout because “Borrachinha” showed up on fight week super heavy.
“There’s some s—t going on about ... well, I’ll say it. He had some problems with weight, I guess,” Vettori said during a UFC Vegas 41 media event (video via MMA Junkie). “I said I’ll fight him at any weight, but at the end of the day we still have to all be professional. I mean, he’s not professional. F—k, we all go through weight cuts. He has to do some of it, you know? So, we’ll see. But like I said, The last thing I want is for the fight to be scratched, so I’ll fight him at any weight.”

“With that being said, he needs to suffer a little bit making weight. Because all of us go through that. But yeah man, that shows. He’s a lot overweight. So ... we gotta find a way. I’m not hard to please, in that sense. I’ll say whatever. It just has to make sense.”
Vettori made it clear that nothing official had been presented to him by UFC in regard to a Catchweight, but he sounded quite certain his intel was correct about Costa not being able to hit Middleweight.
“Nothing is official, I just know he’s a lot overweight,” Vettori said. “He’s a lot overweight. So yeah, we’ll have to find some solution.”
And if that solution is to make the fight a Light Heavyweight fight?
I’ll say, ‘Yes, let’s do it at 205,’” Vettori said quickly. “But ... we’ll see. If he can do a little bit better than that, because he should be able to do better than that. but worst case I’ll still fight him at 205.”
