Highlights: Ike Villanueva corkscrews Vinicius Moreira, scores UFC Fight Island 8 knockout (Video)

Curtain. Dropped.

It was light heavyweight fireworks on the UFC Fight Island 8 main card today (Weds., Jan. 20, 2021) at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, thanks to Ike Villanueva and his corkscrew knockout over fellow 205-pound bruiser Vinicius Moreira.

Ouch.

“Hurricane Ike” lived up to his nickname by causing a storm in the second stanza, which was mercifully halted by referee Jason Herzog. Villanueva, 36, improved to 18-11 with the victory and snapped a two-fight losing streak.

As for Moreira, 32, this could mark the final fight of his UFC career. Despite an impressive showing on Dana White’s “Contender Series” back in summer 2018, “Mamute” has now lost four straight inside the Octagon, getting finished in all four losses.

It’s been a great day of finishes and we still have the main and co-main events.
