Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White is HYPED for the upcoming UFC 257 pay-per-view (PPV) main event on Fight Island between former lightweight champion Conor McGregor and ex-interim division titleholder Dustin Poirier.
Can’t say I blame him, as both combatants represent the best of the 155-pound weight class. But can “The Diamond” avoid a repeat of his UFC 178 loss to “Notorious” from back in late 2014? We won’t know for sure until the fists start flying on Jan. 23 in Abu Dhabi.
The victor will be atop a very short list of title contenders for Khabib Nurmagomedov’s belt, alongside the streaking Charles Oliveira, as well as the winner of Michael Chandler vs. Dan Hooker, who collide in the UFC 257 PPV lightweight co-main event.
Whether or not “The Eagle” comes out of retirement to challenge any of the aforementioned competitors, or simply vacates his title and rides off into the sunset remains to be seen, but it sounds like the undefeated Dagestani hasn't closed the door on his career just yet.
