UFC Fight Island 7 injuries and medical suspensions were submitted to MixedMartialArts.com earlier this week for those athletes competing at the “Holloway vs. Kattar” event last Saturday (Jan. 16, 2021) inside Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.

Not surprisingly, a fair share of combatants were handed mandatory timeouts, including featherweight headliner Calvin Kattar. “The Boston Finisher” absorbed a staggering 445 significant strikes from the “Blessed” ex-champion across five rounds of action.

“Success in life comes when you simply refuse to give up,” Kattar wrote on Instagram. “With goals so strong that obstacles, failure and loss only act as motivation. Props to Max on a hell of a fight, he deserves all the praise. Thankful for my team’s commitment for this fight. On to the next. There is no stopping the man who doesn’t quit.”

The full list of UFC Fight Island 7 medical suspensions (courtesy of MMA Junkie) includes:

Max Holloway: Suspended 30 days with no contact for 21 days due to “hard bout”

Reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases. In addition, not all injuries are recorded during the post-fight examination and often times surface in follow-up tests.
