Volkan Oezdemir vs Nikita Krylov co-main event set for Oct. 17 on ‘Fight Island’

UFC

It’s a battle of Top 10-ranked Light Heavyweight contenders as Volkan Oezdemir and Nikita Krylov hook ‘em up in the UFC Fight Island 6 co-main event on Sat., Oct. 17, 2020, inside Flash Forum on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.

UFC brought word of the booking earlier today.

Oezdemir (17-5) jumped out to a perfect (3-0) start in the 205-pound division, knocking out the likes of Misha Cirkunov and Jimi Manuwa along the way. Unfortunately, “No Time” was unable to maintain his winning ways and has since put together a dreadful 2-4 record.

That includes last July’s knockout loss to Jiri Prochazka.

Krylov (27-7) — who thankfully dropped that goofy “Al Capone” nickname — has been competing in UFC for more than seven years and is no doubt looking to capture some of his earlier success. “Miner” is coming off a win over Johnny Walker last March, but also came up short in high-profile bouts against Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira.

UFC Fight Island 6 is expected to be headlined by the Featherweight grudge match pitting Brian Ortega against “Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung. To see the rest of the fight card and ESPN+ line up click here.
