Darrick Minner captured his first Octagon victory earlier tonight (Sat., Sept. 19, 2020) at UFC Vegas 11 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, as the submission specialist ended highly-touted prospect T.J. Laramie via first-round guillotine.
Despite being a fairly sizeable underdog it was Minner who pushed the pace early and put Laramie against the cage. After landing some good knees and uppercuts inside Minner forced Laramie to go for a takedown. On the way down to the canvas Minner grabbed a hold of the neck and never let go. Laramie only lasted a few seconds before tapping.

With this performance, Minner nets his first UFC victory after getting submitted by streaking lightweight Grant Dawson back in February. Minner has proved throughout his career to be extremely dangerous with his submission attempts in the early going and just locked down the biggest win of his career because of it. UFC should reward the veteran nicely with another meaningful matchup in 2020.
