Beneil Dariush and Scott Holtzman faced off in a Lightweight bout tonight (Sat., Aug. 8, 2020) at UFC Vegas 6 from UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Dariush landed the first major shot of the fight, a ripping left body kick. Holtzman scored with a jab, but a pair of eye pokes slowed the action twice within the first minute. The two traded uppercuts, then Dariush dove into a high-crotch takedown. Holtzman defended really well and eventually circled out. Immediately afterward, Dariush crushed his foe with a heavy knee, badly rocking “Hot Sauce.” Dariush landed big in the following exchanges, but somehow Holtzman remained standing. As the damage continued to build, Holtzman went for a desperation takedown. It bought him some time away from getting cracked, but Dariush landed in the back clinch. Holtzman escaped back to the open, but he still looked a rather wobbly. Holtzman landed a clean right hand as his eye began to bleed. Dariush dug into the thigh and cracked his foe with another cross. Dariush flurries and lands several serious punches, but Holtzman somehow stood up to the blows.
Out of NOWHERE, a spinning backfist landed perfectly for Dariush, ending Holtzman’s night in an instant. Dariush has now won five straight fights and finished all but one — it’s time to consider him a contender again!
Result: Beneil Dariush defeats Scott Holtzman via knockout
