UFC Vegas 6 free fight: Aleksei Oleinik scores another submission win, forces Maurice Greene to tap via armbar (video)

Aleksei Oleinik, 43, is still going strong in his mixed martial arts (MMA) career. He will take part in professional fight No. 73 this weekend (Sat., Aug. 8, 2020) when he faces off against Derrick Lewis in UFC Vegas 6’s main event inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Before then let’s look at a blast from the past to see “The Boa Constrictor” earn an impressive victory via armbar, which has become the norm for the Brazilian jiu-jitsu wizard since he’s collected 45 wins via submission.

Earlier this year, Oleinik faced off against Maurice Greene at UFC 246 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Straight out of the gate, Greene tagged Oleinik with a kick to the knees that folded the long-time veteran. But it didn’t take more than one minute for Aleksei to take the action down to the mat. To his credit, Greene was able to fend off several submission attempts throughout four grueling minutes.

In round two, Greene found some success with his stand up attack early on before Aleksei once again took him down to the mat. This time, Greene didn’t have enough defense to stop Oleinik from trapping him an a tight armbar to force the tap.

Now, Oleinik will look to earn the first three-fight win streak inside the Octagon by taking out one of the heaviest hitters in all of MMA. Currently ranked No. 10 on the official UFC rankings, “The Boa Constrictor” can make a huge jump in the Heavyweight division by defeating “Black Beast,” inching him closer to a possible title shot.
