UFC 251 injuries and medical suspensions were submitted to mixedmartialarts.com earlier this week for those athletes competing at the “Usman vs. Masvidal”-led pay-per-view (PPV) event this past weekend (Sat., July 11, 2020) from “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi.

All fighters were slapped with a mandatory seven-day suspension.

Not surprisingly, a fair share of combatants were handed additional timeouts, including welterweight headliner and reigning 170-pound champion Kamaru Usman. “The Nigerian Nightmare” is facing a possible six-month sit pending a nasal X-ray.

That’s not all.

Complete UFC 251 injuries and suspensions (via MMA Fighting) below:

Kamaru Usman: suspended 180 days or until cleared by nasal X-ray, 21 days no contact.
Jorge Masvidal: suspended 30 days for forehead laceration, 21 days no contact.
Alexander Volkanovski: suspended 30 days due to hard bout, 21 days no contact.
Max Holloway: suspended 30 days due to hard bout, 21 days no contact.
Petr Yan: suspended 30 days due to hard bout, 21 days no contact.
Jose Aldo: suspended 45 days due to TKO, mandatory 30 days no contact.
Rose Namajunas: suspended 30 days with 21 days no contact.
Volkan Oezdemir: suspended 60 days due to KO, 45 days no contact.
Leonardo Santos: suspended 45 days due to hard bout, 30 days no contact.
Roman Bogatov: suspended 30 days due to hard bout, 21 days no contact.
Maxim Grishin: suspended 180 days or until cleared by nasal X-ray, 21 days no contact
Raulian Paiva: suspended 30 days with 21 days no contact.
Zhalgas Zhumagulov: suspended 30 days with 21 days no contact.
Davey Grant: suspended 180 days or until cleared by oral maxillofacial doctor, 30 days no contact.
Martin Day: suspended 60 days due to KO, 45 days no contact.

Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases. In addition, not all injuries are recorded during the post-fight examination and often times surface in follow-up tests.
