Rising women’s flyweight contender Gillian Robertson got back in the win column earlier tonight (Sat., June 20, 2020) at UFC on ESPN 11 live on ESPN/ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, when she finished battle-tested veteran Cortney Casey via third-round submission (rear-naked choke).
Robertson and Casey both had their moments in this fight, but it was “Savage” who was the better fighter in close quarters, especially when the action hit the canvas. The third round allotted Robertson more time to work her ground game and she eventually got to Casey’s back. From there, Robertson quickly sunk in a rear-naked choke and squeezed for the stoppage.

With this performance, Robertson returns to the UFC win column after suffering a TKO loss to Maycee Barber last October. The 25-year-old contender continues to prove that she’s one of the best finishers in the division, but she needs a little more consistency in order to start climbing the proverbial ladder. This finish should give her that opportunity her next time out.
