Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Tony Ferguson is one of the demonstrable toughest fighters in a sport filled with tough athlete. A great deal of his fighting style involves constantly attacking his opponent and getting in their face, which means that — despite his measures to block and evade — Ferguson eats plenty of strikes, yet he’s never been stopped. To further add to that legacy, Ferguson kicks metal pipes in his spare time, a unique training method that enables him to kick his opponents shins without fear of his own pain.
Finally, however, Ferguson has met an obstacle that forced a real reaction from him: the feared COVID-19 nasal swab.
UFC promised strict safety regulations in their first attempt to return to hosting an event since national shutdown, and they appear to be living up to their word. All fighters must pass the above diagnostic swab, and they’ll also be given a test to check for antibodies, which are present in those who have previously fought off the virus.
We are now just four days away from showtime, and it will be quite interesting to see if any fights are canceled due to a positive test.
Petr Yan would definitely be the guy to stand up and object at Henry Cejudo and Jose Aldo’s wedding.
Marry your brain again you are obviously got separated with it long time ago https://t.co/OPVwS3n819— Petr “No Mercy” Yan (@PetrYanUFC) May 5, 2020
The UFC 249 poster is surprisingly unique!
Since Ultimate Fighter is apparently coming back “real soon” per Dana White’s Reddit AMA, some highlights seem appropriate!
Add this to the list of bizarre ways one can injure himself training martial arts:

‼️Warning Graphic‼️ Freak Accident Explanation. I have been getting some training in with @billyqmma ( ) to stay active, ready, and hopefully** jump on a short notice opportunity since my fight in March got cancelled. I ordered all new gear because all of my gear is at @lauzonmma and I’m out here in Florida. So I got my new gear in on Thursday night and used them for the first time on Friday. I was sparring with brand new 7oz MMA gloves at no more than 50% pace. About 90 seconds into the round, I blocked Billy’s kick. I felt a pinch, but didn’t think anything of it. I looked down and noticed my finger was literally leaking all over the floor. When I blocked the kick, the rubbing of the finger slots of the glove onto my finger caused enough friction to open up a gash. I obv went to the hospital right away. The gash needed 5 stitches to seal and I need to follow up with a hand doctor to confirm no ligament damage in my finger. Oh, and an X-ray showed that I have a fracture in my hand that “has likely been there a while.” I am confident there isn’t any ligament damage as I have full mobility/ROM of the finger with no pain at all whatsoever. I’m going to let these stitches heal completely, get on the mats ASAP, and hopefully fight sometime mid-late summer. . . Moral of the story: make sure you break your gloves in before you spar with them...
Do we have to stop the Florida jokes now that Las Vegas is on board as well? Shame.
Rafael Cordeiro celebrated 10 years of King’s MMA in Southern California today, and that gym did have a remarkably successful decade with multiple UFC champions in its ranks, like Rafael dos Anjos and Fabricio Werdum.

We arrived in 2008 in Huntington Beach, California, with the idea of implementing our training system. At first it seemed crazy to leave Curitiba, because we were at a training center in one of the noblest neighborhoods and with a number record of students at the time. Today, looking back and seeing what our school has become, I believe God has put me in this place. I didn't feel at any point the fact that here, I had to teach at the academy of others and the leader position that I had in Curitiba, was limited in two classes that I had to teach in the week. Coming from a schedule that counted on the training of various champions, here in HB, I had to start classes with my wife, my daughters and a black level. Back 12 years ago, we didn't have this easy way to show where you're teaching and with that, I spent some time with a very low number of students, being that most of them came from Brazil following the Master. Fernando Bettega, Marlon Mathias, Cris Cyborg, Andre Baggio and Fabricio Werdum, were my first team of Curitiba to set up in HB. Looking at all these efforts that were made to get here, God blessed me greatly with a gym that conquered several titles, and that depends as one of the most conceptable in the world. In all these years, that weren't just smiles, which I can tell you is, God has always been there. If I believed in my dream and got here, for sure you can. Today, after all these years, we are expanding our mark to the whole world, knowing that martial art will be applied as the main foundation within each unit, and the gyms that today are in Huntington Beach, Anaheim and El Paso, accurately applied to this mentality. This is my dream, and I believe the best is yet to come. At the end of the day, look back and think what legacy you'll leave.
